towed father in laws dead 3/4ton packed full from Hinton to 108 Mile Ranch BC last month. 18L/100km average, including the infamous Little Fort hill pull. Deleted 17 Megacab

Is that a 9'6" camper on a short bed? I wanted to know how that works if I replace my truck
Yup it is. Center of gravity mark is right in the center of the axle. Seems to work fine. I built a wooden deck with 2x10s and took the tail gate off. Needed to raise it higher anyways

It’s the Fire Truck so I am surprised it’s that good

I’ve never checked ours, but I’m never in a hurry either. Mostly just a fun way to water trees and wash the shop. IMG_1441.jpg

2012 duramax, engine stock sitting on 37s. 5th wheel is 11,500# Tolled trailer from Vermilion to Kelowna (about 1100km’s) 120kph in the prairies. Went as fast as the guy ahead of me would let me go in the mountains.

They all seem to be in the mid 20's for most years and brands when towing big, tall loads but what I have found over the years is the unloaded economy has improved for the new trucks. When pollution crap got added they got worse but now they are slowly coming back. Unloaded my truck easily gets 12 or less on the highway at 110-120 but loaded it can be near double. Pushing wind is always a factor. And they sure can suck the DEF when loaded compared to unloaded.

I think you are bang on. My last 2 trucks have been a 16 3500 Chevy Duramax, and now I have a 19 F350 diesel. I find when I have 2 sleds up on my deck I almost have the same mileage as when I'm pulling my 11000lbs ish holiday trailer, but empty the milage isn't bad at all.

I had high teens with my deck, hardly much weight. IMO wind resistance is the biggest thing with a diesel, weight doesn’t have as big as an affect.

Pulling my holiday trailer loaded up and water full with the sxs on the marlon rack im getting around 18-19l/100km, trailer is only about 7000lb loaded up though, 18 ram limited 3500 6.7

10000lb trailer same load 2019 ram 3500. 29l/100k and a 1/4 tank of DEF per fill...bout 400k

Seems like your burning a lot of fuel, you in automatic or in manual mode? You use tow haul? I run mine in tow haul locked out in 5th gear in manual mode, best mileage I can get with the truck while towing is set up like that. If I run in automatic and tow haul I get like 23l/100km

10000lb trailer same load 2019 ram 3500. 29l/100k and a 1/4 tank of DEF per fill...bout 400k

I will try locking it in fifth. I dont expect much as the truck is new. Was just a little shocking come from similar milage to what your getting with my 08 to this. Especially the DEF fluid I was under the impression I'd be filling it 4x a year not every 4 trips

Ya that’s a lot of def, I dump 10 litres in every 3500-4000 km, and it fills it back up to full from half a tank

I get about 10000km with my ‘15 to a tank of def.

That sounds about right for mileage as I believe the DEF tank is 21-22 litres. Just dumped a 10 liter jug in this eve and its back on full, checked mileage since last fill and it was 4500 km. Must be getting a bit better as I get more miles on it. Just turned 14,000km

I get about 10000km with my ‘15 to a tank of def.

Just as a comparison to stock trucks, Fully deleted Duramax LML Dually. EGR, DPF, SCR and DEF tank removed. Running in Tow/economy tune. No smoke even under load. Fairly lean setting based on fuel rail pressure compared to stock before deleting. Level hiway speed set for 120km/h locked in 5th gear. Pulling 42' 5th wheel at just over 16000 lbs between Edmonton and Kelowna. I'm getting between 18.5 to 20.5 L/100kms depending on head wind. Actual calculated kms driven vs total fuel used for trip. Engine seems to pull better at slighty higher at 1800 to 1900 RPM. Lower EGT's then the spec peak torque of 1600 RPM. New intake going on before Kelowna trip. We'll see if there is any gains to be had. Overall I would say better performance and slight economy gains over the current tier 4 diesels without any of the derating issues that may or may not leave you on the side of the hiway.

the console meter said 28ish L/100 from Edmonton to Peace River and back with my 9'6" Westland 90W (2000Lbs dry) and a 21 eagle sport boat behind it. '03 7.3 bone stock
@ 120KM/H the whole way
