Vibration, 2017 Dodge 1500

2017 Ram, 1500 4x4, vibration in the rear. New tires about 6000 KM ago ( BF Goodrich All Terrains ), been balanced twice, even went as far as putting on brand new Nitto Grapplers, vibration is still there. Brought it to a second dealer for an opinion, they said it was the tires ( that's when I tried the Nitto's). U joints were replaced, everthing seems tight underneath, no broken motor or transmission mounts. The previous tires were pretty worn, so I really can't say if it was there before the new tires. No shake in the steering wheel.
The real frustrating part is the vibration comes and goes, its between 97 & 112 KMPH, happens in 4, 5, 6 7 & 8th gears. Truck has air bags, no difference if empty or at 5 lbs.
I guess the next step would be balancing the driveshaft, any recommended shops in the Edmonton area ? ( or any suggestions what else it could be ?)

Sounds familiar, Did the vibration start after the tires were installed???

hard to say, I had one F'd tire before, I do a lot of driving on gravel, plus the pavement where I drive has been absolute crap the last 4-5 years. I had the tire shop put 4 new Nitto's on, vibration was still there. The tire shop told me they calibrate the balancer each morning, I'm starting to think maybe I take it to a different shop for balancing. I've dealt with the same tire shop for over 20 years now, never had any issues before.

Might need to get them checked with a road force tire balancer. I had tires on my Honda pilot that balanced fine on a regular machine but still vibrated. Had them checked on a road force machine and they found a blown belt. My tires were new also.

could try road force balancer, generally if vibration is there and you put truck in neutral and no change its in the tires. if vibration changes and generally is worse under load then driveline,, pats driveline can check driveline angles and balance drive shaft.

Any vibration between 85 and 110 is tires

Not necessarily balance, but runout


Meaning the up and down or high and low of the tire as it spins

Tire shop I ran had lots of bfg and nitto that had too much runout brand new


Also get them to spin the rims without the tires, also had lots of aftermarket rims out of round, mostly from not using center hub rings and or overloaded as most don't have much capacity

I have some worn out Hankooks RF10 and from brand new 1 was oval but got progressively worse once tread got down. Balanced, twice,.. then road force balanced, I'm using them right now and it sucks with the 1 tire. I jacked up the rear of my truck to see which one because I couldn't remember and it scrubbs the ground at one spot when you rotate the tire by hand.

I had two trucks do that after putting new tires on. Road force balance fixed both.

One truck the dealer rebalanced twice, replaced the rear brakes under warranty and the driveshaft, still vibrated. Found out about road force balancing and it fixed it.

What can you do if the tires have too much runout?

Where in the Edmonton area can you have a road force balance done?

Had the same issue with toyo mts. After balancing twice I still had a vibration. I was told that the heavier mud tires are sometimes hard to balance with conventional weights. I got the balancing beads inside the tire and vibration was gone. Good luck.

If you travel on gravel it could be stuck in the inside of rims, would a balancer show a bent rim?
