Charmac rear door

I have a charmac snow sport over the axle trailer. Rear door just has the lower springs in the door and is heavy as f*** to close...also it’s fairly steep. Anyone ever modify the rear to a beaver tail with a longer door? I see my buddy bought a newer charmac same as mine, it’s got a beaver tail. Ramp is not steep. Also has the door spring assist over the top with cable. Super light.

Anyway doesnt look that hard. Frame rails are cut to a taper...add a section to door or make a new one out of aluminum...add the spring assist/cable.

Havent made one myself, but should be super easy to make a flip over extension.

I had a trailer exactly like yours and feel your pain! Sounds like more trouble than it's worth though. The time and $$ invested to do it could probably go a log way towards buying a different trailer after selling yours.
If the work done is not fantastic, you would also be killing resale value also.

I've done alot different mods to trailers over the years and that would be an extremely tough one. I'd love to help you but the cost would be crazy on that mod to make it look like factory again.

Well I looked at it and wouldn’t be that tough...if I touched it, it would be better than stock. That being said not sure it’s worth the effort...this summer I’m going to gut that door and get ride of that stupid checker plate, and get a better spring assist for the door.

No interest on getting a different trailer for what a new ones worth these days.

I guess a guy could run lower profile tires and have the trailer at a slight upward angle ...cheap
