Sounds like sled manufacturers at snow check time ??

Better looking truck though.

It’s just consumer marketing just like anything else in the world. Gillette razers, one blade wasn’t enough so they had two, then the Mach 3, 4, do they have 5 now? Whitening toothpaste, now whiter. HP in cars, trucks, motorcycles, TV resolution, internet speeds, Data plans on your cell phone, biggest scam in the world. Data isn’t tactile, it doesn’t cost anything to manufacture and in the US you can get unlimited plans but here in Canada it’s a scam.

But yes, nicer looking I think too.

Ram doesn’t have a trans that holds up to their current power levels so I don’t have much faith in this being any better.

Or a front end!!How are you gonna feel about the exhaust rusting off a $100,000+ truck???

Its a nice looking truck, lighter engine, more power, sweet looking sound system. I like my 2012. Its paid for and has 47000km!!! Lol

400hp in a inline 6 though as compared to a v8 is a different ballgame. 1000ft/lbs will be nice. $115k though. That's a tough pill to swallow. This much torque has to be hard on tires. And still using the 68RFE? I read they made a few upgrades to it, which should have been done when they came out. They've been weak from the get go imho. Why couldn't they just make a deal with Allison lol? I'd be in love!

Why is it different? Displacement is still the same, and the Duramax is 6.6 instead of 6.7. Hp is hp regardless of how the cylinders are arranged.

It is different.
Power curves, lighter engine, better emissions. There is a reason that I6 engines are used in highway trucks and v8’s are a thing of the past.

The 6.7-liter Cummins inline-6 High Output Turbo Diesel gets extensive upgrades for 2019 and puts down a segment-busting 1,000 lb-ft of torque @ 1800 RPM and 400 horsepower @ 2,800 RPM. Starting at the core, the Cummins uses a new compacted graphite iron (CGI) engine block. Ram says the pistons are lighter and stronger than the outgoing 6.7-liter and feature new low-friction rings. These new pistons connect to the crankshaft via new forged connecting rods. Up top is a newly designed cast iron cylinder head with new exhaust valves, springs, and rocker arms. Bolted to that cylinder head is an all-new exhaust manifold that is the mounting point for an improved variable-geometry turbocharger with laminated heat shields, delivering boost pressure up to 33 psi. This High Output Cummins is optional on Ram 3500’s only.

Remember boys....Horsepower is only a calculated value from torque. :D

Sure are a lot of guys in this thread that have opinions without knowledge. Crappy transmissions, front ends, no airbags etc. I have had several Dodges (Rams) and the transmissions have been great for years (even chipped) and if that's not good enough order the ASIN as that will give any Allison a run for its money, personally I did not like my Allison I had in 2008 GM and prefer the 68RE over the ASIN for the RAM. The front ends have not been a problem since they completely redesigned in 2013 and my 2018 has airbags as a factory option. This new beast is again a completely different animal so don't write it off and I will try not to say your new Chev or Ford is crap because I have seen an older version fail. You may not like the price or the look but the specs are impressive.

Just crank up a couple power levels on your tuner and no need to justify a new truck lol

This isn’t 2010. Rams radius arm trucks have been fine.

Exhaust rusting off? Did you know all manufacturers are bound by a 10 year emission warranty for corrosion. Even if it did rust in the first five the standard warranty would take care of it.

488 ferrari makes 700hp. Highway tractors are only about 450hp. Surprised they don't put more 3.9l twin turbos, in kenworths.

Torque gets you off the line, horse power keeps you going. Sure it get up from a stop and go, but try pass someone with that Cummins, the torque falls off too quick to make any HP. HP is a result of torque.

Lol. You mean different power curves because they make less power than a V8?

There is a huge difference between a 15 liter inline 6 in a highway tractor and the wimpy 6.7 in a Dodge pickup.

And if the emissions are so much better then why did Dodge recall over 200,000 pickups due to faulty emissions equipment in the dieselgate scandal?

Im sure the new Cummins will get you up to highway speed without issues.
