A buddy of mine went thru this recently priced I seen were $7500 for a 6.4 with 200,000km in it or $18000 for a new one and of course $2000+ for an install. There is a diesel specific shop called Dirty Diesel out of Kelowna they to do good work in Alberta here and it’s the same owner has been fair with other things to me.

My buddy had a work truck once that lost compression in a hole. Rings were stuck he added some sort of miracle oil additive and it freed them up.

Actually that may have been a 6.0L

when I had my Ford F350 they were horrible to deal with. Long story but in one case they wanted to void my warranty because of an after market air filter. Said cylinders had been dusted and I asked how the turbo looked and they said "perfect" hmmmmmm how is that possible. Previous to that they put an apprentice on it to replace two injectors and he forgot to put the rad hose clamp on and blew when I was pulling a boat at 38 C. Wasn't good! Anyway, eventually packed the truck up and took it to Golden (I know the mechanic there) and he got the job done.

Well got it back. Down to 210psi in cylinder 2 and down to 220 psi in cylinder 8. They scoped it and also found scoring on cylinder walls.

Now just gotta decide on if i buy a new truck or a used truck. I can get deal on new trucks from ford and gm through work.

Dirty Diesel Customs in Westbank. I have nothing but great things to say about them and they know 6.4’s. The owner had a 6.4 as a personal truck for a long time, his shop race truck is a 6.4 and he built my custom triple turbo 6.4. On top of any other 6.4 they’ve worked on over the years.

I can’t say I’d genuinely recommend anywhere else.

Is it still Rob who owns Dirty Diesel?

No. He sold it to a friend of his quite a few years ago named Jordan. He then moved the shop from Red Deere to Sylvan Lake and after a few years Jordan moved back home to the Okanogan and opened a second shop. He just finished building a new building and they are almost moved in.

Thanks for the update, I did some business with Rob years ago. I’ve seen your truck, it’s pretty awesome! I’ll second that the guys at Dirty Diesel know what they’re doing for sure!

So opinions on what truck is worth with motor to be replaced to sell private

08 f250 lariet
175000 km
6inch lift
37s
Replaced alot of stuff last 2 years. Rad, brakes, tierods, shocks, tires and rims

Not finding alot to get an idea online with blown motors for a price.

Could auction or trade in on new truck as well

Does it run well enough to get it through an unreserved auction? If not it’s going to be ugly.. parts of that vintage only from 08-10

I’d say put a reserve on it and hope for the best.. you wouldn’t be the first.

I’m sure glad Ford is over this bs and has a solid rig now
