Ram 3500- Turbo NOX Sensor

Here’s a fun Friday story for everyone....

Took my truck into the stealership for some warranty work. They had to do a water pump recall and a catalityc converter recall and some other warranty items. I pick the truck up and not even 40km later the check engine light comes on. I drive it for as couple weeks to see if it turns back off (plus too busy at work to take it back)Coincidence? The fuel is irate literally doubled after (ran two tanks of diesel through it if that).

Now, with this cold weather I can’t use my command start with the check engine light on. So it goes from a whatever problem to extremely annoying. So I take the truck in today- that’s a **** show story in itself...

Turns out it is the NOX sensor in the turbo tube. Allegedly this has nothing to do with their prior work and there is no warranty. Coincidence? It’s a 2013 ram 3500. The recommended a delete shop right on the phone for me. Funniest part- they wanted $1900 for the sensor alone. $2500 for the repair.

Yes i have a code scanner and will be clearing off for a bit. Guess I need to decide if I want to keep it or not sooner then I thought!

No idea. They just said turbo tube, I laughed too hard at their ‘quote’ to ask anything else. I’m spending $0 on parts. If i keep the truck it’s getting deleted now that it’s finally off warranty. Fu*king scam job this emission crap is... your telling me that the def fluid, reduced fuel economy, and regens are somehow better for the environment? Unreal.

Drove the truck home and the light stayed off. Will monitor in the next little bit and see how temperamental it is. I can deal with clearing the code if it comes back on.

Both sensors are the same part # in aftermarket parts...

Well put on about 300kms this weekend. Multiple remote starts, warm ups, high idles, city and highway mix. Light hasn’t come back on. I’m wondering if the stealership didn’t flash the computer correctly the first time and was trying to gouge me for a couple grand.

Either way way I can clear a code for the money, if it comes back on. Still might delete the truck but not as big of a rush to decide at least.

I'd be interested in what you find for a full delete when you do it, I've got 15000 km left on Warranty on my 13 and will do the same if ANY emissions headaches show up.

I just deleted my 2015 Ram 3500. All i can say is I wish I had done it sooner. I did a 4" Flo-pro exhaust with muffler and 5" tip, 45 hp tow tune with EFI live and transmission tuning. The truck gets unreal mileage on the highway and feels like it has twice the power. All of this for $1780 installed.

Cooper Custom Solituons has done a couple trucks I know about and heard nothing but good things. Dealer also gave me a name I wrote down it forget. Will call all 3 prior to doing anything.

When you get someone to delete it...ask them if you can look under ur EGR plate!!! U will be wishing u had deleted from new!

I thought emissions equipment had to be covered for up to 8 years by law? I’d look into it a little deeper if it’s a covered component or not.
