As somebody who puts allot of miles on the roads in BC in the winter, I highly recommend the mountain snowflake over M&S tires, the ice and slippery road traction is far superior.

As for which tire, it depends on the size and ply, are you running 4 ply, 6 ply or 10 ply?

I have been a pretty big fan of the Firestone Winterforce tires for the last few years. Nokian are very good but usually overpriced. Almost every non-chinese brand make a pretty good snowflake tire. The Chinese tires dont seem to want to develop a decent compounding and as the temperature drops so does the traction. They become hockey pucks.

I have Hakks on my Duramax, Winterforce on the wifes Tahoe. The Winterforce have WAY better traction, but they are also a 4 ply compared to the 10 ply hakks.

Big thread on this last year if you use search.

And new tires come out every year as well as people who ran something last year may consider something else based on experiences they had with their last tire.

I for one do not believe there is one tire that meets everyone's needs. I have ran Duracraps, (Studded and non) BFG's, Nokians, AT II's and most recently Toyo CT's and if I was picking a tire today for a heavier truck, I am not sure wtf I would get.

Some people put a lot of emphasis on the Sever Service Mountain Snowflake symbol. While I think its obviously not causing more harm than good there are many non Mountain snowflake tires which could be equally as good. When manufacturers are able to conduct the ATSM tests to determine if they can rate their tires with the Snowflake it tends to have a biased result.

Some people run MT's with sipping, some none. Some run AT's, some run all seasons, some run cheap Chinese stuff. Then some people run 80 psi, some 65, some 45, some run 12.5" wide tires on 7" wide rims and bitch about traction and wear. Decide what is important to you as far as tread life, sidewall strength and protection, tread design, and so on and narrow down your choices that way I believe is a decent way to go about it.

I’ve had great luck with the BFg ko2 tires. I’m buying a new pair for my dually this winter. After 90000km on they still look half decent, only thing that sucks is the price has gone way up. When I originally bought them in 2015 it only costed me 1390 for
6 installed at Costco and now there saying over 1800 for same tires.

I've tried the duratracs, the ko's, siped muds but this year I think i'm going to try the cooper discovery winters. I made the mistake in the past of running too wide a tire and any wide tire in the winter sucks!

I run Toyo MT's year round on my F350, perfectly legal in BC because they are M+S rated. I'd like to be able to run winter tires, but find that the icerock put on forestry roads in the winter tend to rip them to shreds over time. The MT's seem to be the best compromise for me on a year round tire that is tough a provides reasonable performance in most conditions.

Girlfriend runs Nokian Hakkapeliitta R7's studded tires in the winter and although they are snowflake rated are not legal in BC because they have 190 studs per tire and BC allows a max of 130. Now if a cop really wants to count the studs to write a ticket they can have at it, but otherwise are awesome tire in the winter.

Anybody have any real use feedback on the Falken Wildpeak AT3? Considering this for a year round use tire on a 17 F350 SRW.

Yeah actually another snow n mudder member here has them on his f150. I was surprised how good they worked on nasty roads driving to Valemount last season. No issues accelerating or braking with small two place trailer on.

We have the Wildpeak AT3's on one of our work trucks. Granted they are F150's but we go through a set of ties every two months on these trucks and I would happily run the Falken over the KO2's based on how bad the KO2's cup and wear.

Me too, going on my 5th winter with them and good tread left still. They rock in the snow and ice on my dually.

Sounds impressive, do you run those tires year round ? Or just winter time ? My truck is due for new tires this winter.

I bought a studded set last winter and really liked them. But with no weight in the box I found still using 4x4 on slick days.

I don't put them on till the snow hits and I take them off when it warms and starts melting up. Key to them lasting long.

Running studded Cooper stt maxx for winters. The best tire I've run yet in the winter. Even had people compliment on how well they hold the road. I'd run them in the summer too if they made the size I needed

had made up my mind to throw duratracs on the duramax again but really hating the price with the stupid factory 20"rim(Got 70000k on this set) . Gonna start looking again. Run them year round as I cant afford 2 set of tires currently.
