So besides the obvious.
What are some pro's/con's of a toy hauler?

We haven't done much camping with the side x side. And when we did we just took both trucks.

I'm looking at some options for bumper pull holiday trailers and wondering if it is worth while to go with a toy hauler or just stick with taking both trucks for the once to twice times when we would take the sxs with us.

Anyone ever regret getting one? If so, why?

Can't comment much on the toy haulers, but I can suggest a deck for your truck to haul the sxs and still tow the bowler.

I love my toyhauler. I had to get a different truck to tow it as it is big and a 5th wheel but I don't have any regrets. The truck I have now is great. It is way better then my last truck so it was a good trade there too. Talk to lots of guys and see what works and what doesn't for them. Make sure you get a 12' garage even if you don't need it now. I highly suggest a 5th wheel over a bumper pull.

Anyone use them regularly for winter trips? Was thinking of looking into a desert fox or octane

We have had 3 different toyhauler.
One with a garage is great because you don’t have to unload all the time to camp.

You can make the garage a mud room after riding. Also works great as a bar area.

Built in fuel station is a plus
Hauling your toys inside keeps road grime off them.

I've had toy haulers for 14 years now and personally I'm over the extra weight that comes with it. It's fine if every trip you take your packing the bikes or atv's or whatever but for the times you don't it gets alot heavier on the tongue and doesn't tow as good. Plus it's a fair bit heavier than a regular trailer of similar size and options. That gets a little heavier on the fuel gauge and wallet on long trips.

My next trailer will not be a toy. I'm going to a regular trailer and use the sled deck if I'm hauling toys. A fuel station can be added to most trailers also. That way I have the best of both worlds.

I love having a toy hauler, use it for racing often and the patio makes a great elevated viewing platform. We use it a fare amount for just camping and the wife loves how the kid (1.5 years old) can be put to bed in the back and not be disturbed as we go in and out of the trailer whether its nap time or bed time. If you get a trailer appropriate for the truck you are hauling it with then the weight comment really doesn't matter. But like 1200 said, the Cummins dont care.

I looked at some bumper pull toy haulers when I was looking for a trailer. I found that in the bumper pulls there was usually some compromises inside (bedroom layout, bathroom and kitchen size and functionality) that I didn’t like. It’s less prevalent in the fifth wheel models. They’re all really heavy, so you’ve gotta have the truck to match.
A big disadvantage over a deck on the back of your truck for your toys is that wherever you spot the trailer has to be somewhere you can ride your toys away from. Lots of places won’t let you ride your machines through the campground. Ok if you’re out in the boonies, but I’ve been lots of places in the states where there’s no riding areas near the camping areas.

I like the fact that most of the time the toy haulers have larger water and waste water tanks. Some regular travel trailers are pretty sad to the size of the tanks, they are to be set up at full service lots.

Truck wise I'm running a gas 3500. Gmc. So 6lt with the 6 speed.
I really don't a fifth wheel.
Looking like I'm best to just take two trucks the odd time we camp with the toys.

Thanks for all your input.

This is a downside ive noticed as well. But extra tanks can be added to most trailers easy enough.

we are just in the process of changing everything over from 5th wheel/ second trailer.... countless hours of research i think we have come up with the ultimate setup or at least for us it is. just bought a 7' sled deck with 2' flip down extension and a heartland fuel 250 bumper pull toy hauler(apparently just came out at the RV show). put Rzr in the trailer to camp, then if we need to take rzr off to a stagging area or day trips we will throw it up on the truck. This lets us keep the sled deck in year round for both quading/ sledding. the TT is quite light and the wife loves the king size walk around bed in the front!

Make sure you have that deck flipped up before moving the trailer

Went to RV wars today.
Didn't like the toy hauler lay outs.

We ended up putting a deposit on a 2017 Springdale 26ft no slides bumper pull trailer.
Can't wait to use it
Then when we do bring the gator we'll have to take 2 trucks.

Depending on how long of a toy area you need these are great with a 8x10 deck

If they would make those but with the deck at the back I would consider buying one. I had a kustom koach breeze that had the single atv deck at the rear and a small slide. I wanted something a little bigger with more storage so traded it in on my Tahoe toy hauler I have now but I'm regretting selling it. Should have kept it.

How big does the garage need to be to fit in 3 quads? Kinda in the same boat, get a bumper pull unit and keep two on the deck and one in the trailer or get a big enough 5ver to fit 3 in the back?
