ok what yrs are 6.4 as do like dodge better, lol but want a 2500 and the diesel are 30 k so looking at other options as I have a work 12 cargo I pull then I have a 33 ft sled trailer but allumium and low boy style 2700 lbs empty. So pull that couple times a yr and might do sled deck if I don't get out of the sport

2014 or newer to get a 6.4. I believe my buddies is 2015.

Pulled a 29' bumper pull trailer (32.5' actual length) weighting in low 8000's lbs and power was no issue with the 6.2l 8speed tranny. This engine is awesome heavy crosswind sucked though on this half ton yesterday, considering going to a car & HD truck again with this longer trailer (pm if interested).

I have a 2014 ram 2500 with the 6.4 hemi and 3.73 gears. max tow is 12,600lbs. I pull a 38ft trailer ( 11,000lbs) no problem. I friend of mine has the 6.0L Chev, it does fine, just doesnt have the power that 6.4 does. Also, the rear coil suspension works very well and has a great ride. My 2 cents... Cheers

how are you guys saying 1500s tow great? forget the engine.... whenever i hook any of my trailers up to any 1500 regardless of brand ( i have alot of work trucks ) it feels extremely sketchy to drive. feels like the ass end is floating, cross winds seem to send the truck into a sway, always wants to pull out of the lane. overall bad experience regardless of what brand of 1500. so much so that i have turned around on occasion and switched trucks. as soon as i hook those trailers to my 2500 6.0L its rock solid in and weather conditions or speeds. maybe the fully loaded high end 1500s have features mine dont but i would never ever consider a 1500 ever again if if i was towing anything more than a 2 place open sled trailer.

I think it's insane. Watching these folks pulling trailers with their bumpers damn near scraping the ground just blows my mind. The trucks just aren't heavy enough.

Good rule of thumb is never try pulling anything heavier than the pull vehicle.

I would agree if it’s a bumper pull. 5th wheel isn’t near as bad though. Less of the tail wagging the dog with a 5th wheel.

So I should get an international to haul my toy hauler?

lol, what? How do tractor trailers do it? Also, I had a (wait for it...) F-150 that had built in dawg control that would pull my bumper pull toy hauler with LESS sway than an F-350 I’ve use and my current GM 2500, both of such have no sway control.

The (ranch owned) 2015 Ram 2500 w/6.4 gas that my son has (had), with only 56000 miles had the transmission take a crap while pulling sort of a medium size camper a couple weeks ago. Traded it for a new GMC 2500 crew cab w/6.0 gas, which is basically like the '16 that I have. Mine's got 67000 miles on it and no problems. Pulled the crap out of it a few times and will again tomorrow. Wouldn't complain if it had a little more torque.

was thinking about buying my brothers 6.4 2500 a while ago... then it dropped the tranny with 180KM on it... 3500$ to repair, 5000$ to replace with rebuld and 7000$ for new tranny.... Was a black top mega cab in good shape and they only gave him 14K for it.... Hes happy in a '17 cummins now after taking that up the butt

The salesman says the resale on the gas jobs is terrible.... they sent it to a city fleet dealer on a flat bed with the old tranny in the box lol

I wonder if you ran straight pipes from the cats, maybe just straight through glass packs, if the 6.0 would gain anything. Did that to a 5.7 Tundra once, straight pipes, it was a going sumbeach, but never pulled with it. Pretty loud.

The drone would be enough to make someone never want to tow again haha. I prefer my trucks quiet inside on long trips. Weekend drivers a different story.
