Were did i say this truck is lifted merc? Sure dont look lifted? I said my old dodge had a 6 inch lift and was better on fuel then this ford and a stock ford tire is 34.6 and now the truck has 35s other then width tire was the same size by the stockers.


merc cAnt read? Anyone else see the logic in that? mr hot shot if you do a no power/low power tune and Drive the truck like a adult and your not a dink to your dealer they often look the other way

Sorry thought you had it lifted too. Just don't see the reasoning to delete to save 8-10% fuel economy. The numbers don't get you on the positive side for 5+ years. Those tires and rims are heavy and more roll resistance, they're likely costing you 5-8% alone.

The biggest concern is the warranty on a 80K + truck. If you say it will be fine, ok, I've never dealt with Ford but have had warranty denied with other brands because of mods. Your approach to save a few dollars in fuel seemed foolish, but if your warranty will remain and you're able to keep the truck past 5-6 years with 30k km ayear, you'd come out a head with fuel. I've deleted my truck after the def heater went and the repair was more than deleting, the fuel economy gains are very minimal.

Rollseyes... The void warranty comments are usually from someone who hasnt been in that position before and/or doesnt own a Ford. Ive done deletes on several powerstrokes right off the lot, My own trucks included, there are a couple dealers i have dealt with who even do the deletes on new trucks and no issues going back for warranty stuff, turbos, transmissions, etc. Just need to ask the right questions and go to the right dealer.

I have been there and I have been denied. After I traded that truck in I got a phone call asking if I still had the dpf etc. I had sold it by then. I also happen to work on the stuff. Most dealers on the big trucks are now refusing to even work on deleted trucks. Just because you have not been caught yet don't go spouting that it is ok for everyone to do.

On my dodge the gains were huge dif but that truck was lifted 24 driving around before delete down to 13 after delete i just not a fan of the emmision junk

Emmision stuff on diesels is a joke our combines shut down because of it and our semis have had major issues due to the def/dpf systems

I agree somewhat. I wish it wasn't there but at the same time I like being able to start a truck in the shop without having to open all the doors because it is smoking everyone out. I also enjoy being able to run a truck in the shop without having to put stacks on it.

Cant compare longevity or fuel consumption of a diesel motor of a emmision equiped to pre emmision diesels. I dont agree with guys adding smoke switches and rolling coal all over town it hurts the diesel image my 2001 ram 2500 has 338 km on it and hasnt missed a beat and doesnt smoke much unless a cold start up. My 2012 ram didnt smoke at all was a great clean tune

I'm talking more like 20 years ago with running trucks in the shop. Start one up and get it out quick. Or you better have stacks on it with the fan running before you start it. I prefer what we have now with emissions over what we had years ago. IMO it is not worth deleting unless you have costly issues. Most guys are still in that same frame of mind that a stock truck or machine is junk no matter what.

I'm just curious , what would be the reasoning for refusing to work on a deleted vehicle? I've just never heard of that

You would have to ask them. One of our owner operators needed work done and said he refused to take it to the dealer as his truck was deleted. I told him it might have to go to the dealer as we are limited as what work we can do in the o/o trucks. He said nope they won't work on my truck. I also have to sign paperwork stating whatever truck I bring in has not been deleted when I go to one of the dealers we use. People don't believe it and it will catch up to them eventually unless they are very lucky.

Here is an explanation from a local major dealer

1st, they are a Cummins authorized warranty dealer with a great reputation. Their biggest paying customer is ........................... Cummins warranty. They will not let anything disrupt their relationship with Cummins.

2nd they are an authorized CVSE inspection facility. By CVSE regulations it is illegal to alter the emmisions of a vehicle. If they work on an altered vehicle they feel they are possibly harming that relationship when they do an MVI

3rd, most engine repairs today involve some sort of computer work, if you have an altered vehicle, you have an altered computer. They will not accept any liability when working with an altered computer.

They cant deny warranty on the vehicle totally, only on the power train worse case scenerio

I'm with you with running diesels in stock form............until my 2012 Duramax failed the heating element in the DEF tank for the third time. It was covered twice under warranty. The cycle times that these elements see is too high for the current design in cold climates. ( they could use a more robust design) I've heard of the same issues with Dodge and Ford. I tried getting my truck in to the dealer when it happened during the last cold spell. I was told 5 working days before they could get to it. That decided it for me. Bought the tuner and exhaust and installed it myself that evening. I don't need the hot rod tune as stock is fine for pulling. No issues so far but I do miss the (no stinky diesel exhaust while warming up).

Have a friend that had a 2015 with a 3.5” levelling kit installed. The rear diff vent broke off and piled the diff up from water and dirt. No warranty cuz they blamed the lift which is fine but they flagged the truck in the system no warranty period on anything. He tried thru ford to atleast get warranty back on for stuff not affected by the lift but they wouldn’t budge.

My biggest point I guess I am trying to make is to be educated on modifying your new truck. These are not the days of old anymore where you can modify without any worries. I hate when people say go ahead and do it you they can't deny your warranty. It can cost a guy thousands and thousands if you are not aware. Do your research

Ok back on track warranty is a joke im deleting my truck still and i have heard great things about proven diesel and thats the route i will most likely be going why does every thread on snow and mudd turn into this i asked a simple question about tunes

turn into what? A discussion on various points and views? There is no rights and wrongs, but lots of opinions.

Here is a great one for you, local GM dealer adamant about declining warranty on "altered' vehicles, but one of their lead mechanics does then at home for you and is know as the "guy to go to" in the area.

2 people out of 40 given info on the question i asked. I dont care about warranty this wasnt a warranty question it was on info on 2017 f350s that were deleted from people with knowledge or experience with doing so. If you own a diesel do what ever makes u feel warm and fuzzy inside with it its your choice its your property

How many km do you have on the truck now ? Your milage might improve as the motor breaks in.

And just the other week i called “revolution motors” in Edmonton for a price to delete my 15 duramax. Price was very reasonable for delete and customs efi live tune. Not sure if they do 17 fords but worth a phone call
