I'm getting real tired of pulling around a big trailer to haul the side by side or a couple sleds way up into the bush near my camp. I hate the look and pretty much everything to do with a flat deck but I might have to go that way. I used to have a sleddeck years ago which was ok but now the new sxs is 10' long and won't fit. Any other members here have one on their rig? Looking for ideas to build or buy one that isn't a hideous oilpatch deck?

I've been thinking of going with a flat deck as well. But don't want to give up my truck box either

Same as me. There are some good looking decks around with flip up sides but it just seems like a lot of money and work.

Truckboss makes a UTV extension that gives you 10ft on a 7ft deck, or nearly 12ft on the 8ft deck. Love my Truckboss. I leave it on year long. It's the ultimate tonneau cover.

Well guys, I've heard it all before about flat decks. No storage, I need a box, etc., etc..

The only thing I would change on this deck is the length. I would have it another foot or two longer. I haul firewood (I've built 3' high) side rails, all the extra stuff that goes with hauling a holiday trailer (I've got a set of 16" side rails as well), and it is a great place to haul tools to my work sites along with material transport. I do have a garage to park in for safe storage so tools stay on the deck.

Price isn't outrageous and it is well built. Yes, it is USA fabricated and with a little ingenuity it becomes a sweet deck. Find a body shop and sell the existing box, bumper, and tailgate (I kept the back up sensors and the camera and had them installed in the new deck). I have since LineX'd the deck due to not wanting to polish the aluminum salt damage every year. This was all in for $5000 (other than the LineX) including installation.

I'll have to look them up. Thanks!

Had a customer about a year ago had an 8' bed ford cc made into a flat deck, but had the factory box sides cut down and were used as the sides of the deck. Looked good, would have been a crap load of work tho.

There's a guy in Vernon with a similar setup on a Dodge. Bottom 1/3 or so of the box is intact then has a full lotus grafted on top. Deck has actuators that open it up so still have storage underneath. Looks slick as hell.

You can buy a cab and chassis for less and get a deck built to fit. The cab and chassis can be ordered with a different length wheel base, so you can have any size deck you prefer. Cab and chassis can be ordered in the. 3500,4500 or 5500 series.

Yes, mine is a SLM production. I see his website isn't updated as the base price of most are in the $5000 range (+/-). There are lots of bells and whistles that can be added which increases the cost and I imagine those have gone up considerably. At the time a 5th wheel hitch installed was $100 and the tool boxes installed were $600 for a pair. As for the box, tailgate, and bumper, at the time he didn't want them and preferred to have just the chassis to work on. Tyler, that's a lot of hard earned cash for a deck but like everything else in life, these things never seem to go down in price.

Yes, you can order a cab and chassis but I have found that ordering a vehicle always adds a way more to the price; no rebates, no incentives, no special financing deals, etc..

Once deck is installed sell your box, bumper and tailgate. Bet you can recoup 30-40% the cost of the deck

I would love a good flat deck .The one thing I would do is still have storage under my machines,so probably a double decker with fold down sides.

I have gone that route 3 times and it was difficult to get close to that amount. Body shops are the best place to start (the only places that I have some mine). If you happen to find someone who needs a new box/tailgate/bumper at the time, it is more profitable for you because to buy from a body shop or dealer is ridiculously expensive.

I would say you may get 15% of the inflated price of the deck these days.

That’s true. I feel like if a guy lives near the big cities it’s easier to sell that kind of stuff on kijiji since nobody wants to drive a few hours for anything.
