Have a full set in trailer of chains at all tires after a few close calls on logging rds, they saved my butt in sicamouse and payed off ten fold when slid backwards twent feet and almost over the side.. Put them on after comming to a stop and pulled truck and trailer up with out a slip..

if if you go to north forty outfitters in Montana, I found them to be cheapest and they make them in house for you, they can make any size you want and add a few more bite links for traction..

They're fine. As long as they cammed over and tightened up you’re ok. Just make sure when you tighten the last cam that the rest are still fully tightened. If one looks like it’s not fully cranked tight, put the tool in and snug it up. Make sure you check them after a couple of klicks and tighten/adjust as needed. Roll a window down a bit so you can hear any slapping or banging noises. A little clinking and rattling chain kinda noise is normal.
also, try not to hook the bungee on the cam (you have on one of them) and you’ve got a loose link hanging beside the boomer. Hook one arm of your spider bungee into that so it doesn’t flop around.
Yeah I would like chains on all four, I definitely don't have clearance on the fronts if I wanna be able to steer.

I had to use a snipe to close the cams, so I think they should be tight enough.

That spider, no.matter how inline it up one is gonna be over a cam. But it is connected to a link not the actual cam.

Well the cams are tight.

Are you referring to closeing the cams in the direction the wheel spins so spining will not open them?

I’m still learning.
I installed mine for the first time and had someone tell me it was backwards.

Chains on the front are a nice-to-have, but generally problematic, particularly on a 4wd. Chains tend to get spit off of the front tires on a 4wd because as you turn they get a sideways loading as well as the torque load of the powered wheel. And Murphy’s law being what it is, they usually throw to the inside and take the brake line, abs wiring etc with them.
If you’re chained up and need to turn, slow down and let the front axle pull you around with whatever traction it has.

I never have had an issue with the direction of chains(cams). When I install chains they stay on for the winter, not just to get up a hill. Our wash bay guy that moves trailers around bags on them too dumping the clutch and hammering in the brakes instead of driving like a normal person.

Can be for sure, particularly on a big truck with lots of tires trying to push straight ahead. Keeping the speed down helps staying in control

I run a set of custom sized tryggs for my studded 38's. Sure they are abit overkill and not cheap by any means but they get me anywhere i've wanted to go. And yea. need quite abit of extra clearance for them. Got em a continental rigging in Edmonton

Sweet! Nicely built set of chains. Not cheap I’m sure, but a guy never regrets buying quality equipment.

What does a set of chains usually end up running? I've got 305x75x17 on the Duramax.
I thought when I left behind working in the service truck I was done with chains but I'm thinking i should have a set on hand just in case.

Long ago I had them make me a custom set for the big boots on the back of a 1977 dodge bogey Van...with the posi diff, I took that Van places I shouldn't have been....

Had the chains out on the logging roads this past week, man do they ever work good.

Easy to put on and traction for days.

Truckers definetly seem to respect a guy much more when you show up on scene with chains and a radio.

Less chance of fawking up their day or your own.
