Had warranty denied on my truck comming back from Revy a few years back when motor went down just outside of golden, dealer said after looking at it that I had a tunner installed and Gm will deny warranty, even thou it had nothing to do with why my crank had broke in two different places..

month latter after truck was ready to pick up and bill needed to be paid, witch was 24k I had a meeting with two Gm heads, in witch they new my serial number was involved with a bad batch of cranks and the tunner had nothing to do with why it grenading, they said they would cover the bill, but after would deny warranty because I had tunner installed, truck was a very hard sell back to dealer and I took a ten k hit on it when selling..

as as much as I like power from a tuner, it's just not worth it anymore.. All trucks have been stock since then

I would love to know where you guys buy your diesel or maybe i just got ****ty trucks but I had a 2015 that got no where near that mileage and i had a 2016 also no where near that mileage and I don't drive like a madman either.

Same as you . I never get get the mileage others do . Lol
But the fuel in the lower 48 is way better then here also .

Hand calculate, get taller skinnier tires, that makes a good difference. Less drag when turning them down the highway, and less rpm to go the same speed. Any restrictions you can get rid of, do it, cold air intake, straight pipe exhaust, EGR delete all help. I’m consistently getting 20+ mpg on my duramax. Although it’s an 06’ with not a lick of emissions on it.

cold air intake, BD manifold, BD up pipes, high flow y bridge, EGR delete pipe, snow performance methanol injection, ported fuel rail fitting, fprv plug, AFE downpipe, 4” straight pipe, and EFI live DSP5 with my own tune(definitely not as good as a reputable tuner).

All the things I’ve added probably only gained me 4 mpg, but the power it added was pretty interesting. Lol

Ooooo a good one I forgot, add a winter front... that alone makes a difference in winter... a cold motor won’t perform anywhere near one that is up at operating temp.

‘16 dmax, exhaust and urea delete, egr disabled, EFI live with Motorops tow tune, most dealers will do this for you and warranty it, installed after first oil change, $2g for everything including full exhaust, now at 70k and absolutely no issues, way better mileage and woke it up big time from stock. General Motors, nor any other manufacturer for that matter can legally deny your warranty unless they can prove with 100% certainty that a modification to the vehicle directly caused the damage or equipment failure, what they can do however is lie to you and make you believe you have no warranty or drag their feet for as long as they want to determine the cause of the problem. Find a good dealer and stick with them, you can’t afford to drive a stock diesel truck anymore with urea and ****ty mileage. Plus if you want to run any size of tire and actually use it as a truck, they are fairly doggy in stock form.

Do you have that in writing from the dealer?

They will not replace a motor under warranty if there has been a tune installed and there is internal evidence of overfueling/over temp conditions. Its pretty easy for them to tell, a ****ty tuner changes timing or adds fuel has a different spray pattern in the piston bowl or sprays right outside of the bowl. Good luck getting a turbo replaced also if freeze frame data shows the turbo in an over-boost condition from a tuner.

This is true in some cases. BUT it isn't gm doing the warranty at that point because they will deny it. It is the selling dealer doing the work on their dime. You are also stuck going to that dealer for the life of the truck while you own it and the aftertreatment stuff has to be reinstalled before the truck is sold by a dealer. Private sale is ok.

Bull****.

No way most dealers will warranty it. Minor stuff sure, but not major engine or tranny stuff. It isn't there call. You have heard of GM area reps? Oh, you should do some googling on how it worked out for guys trying to prove it wasn't the modification issue that caused the damage. I guess if you can afford $10g in lawyer fees and 12 months having your truck down waiting for the possibility that it will get covered, yep you might win.

I’ve never had an issue with warranty at my GM dealership or any other for that matter, had issues with dodge in the past and I’ve heard nightmares about ford but so far so good with the General, I’ve had 6 dmaxes in the last 14 Years, and put on over a million K combined, all deleted and tuned with exhaust. No major breakdowns that needed warranty (tranny or motor) but always had all other **** covered, even the odd Tcase. Maybe you guys just need to be nicer to you dealers lol.

Wait until you have a major trans or engine issue and claim warranty. To me it isn't worth the risk. Was denied once on a major repair with my last diesel.
