Anybody out there have a superduty with the power retracting running boards or have the ones built by AMP on their trucks? I’m upgrading trucks soon and am thinking of getting them on the new one ton.
Any problems with them? How are they in ice/ snow/ slush/ mud etc?

Save your money and stick with a fixed board. I have a set of powerboards (same idea as AMP's boards)on my 2012 Ram 3500, they started squeeking so bad and hanging up. I ended up pulling the fuse on them and letting them stay tucked up permanently. I tried every spray lubricant under the sun and nothing worked. I was even tempted to drill and tap for a grease zerk on the pins but no dice. Maybe AMP's are better but they aren't worth the money IMO.

Wife has them on her 2012 expedition. My advice is to keep them clean as possible. If you let the mud and ice build up it's hard on the electric motors. Had to replace both motors so far. Also when you open the door be sure to stand back those extra inches or they will hit you in the shin and it does hurt like a mother

I have had them on several trucks and the AMP Powersteps on my '14 F350, been no issues for the last 140k kms. Same with the factory boards on the wifes new f150 platinum. But you do need to keep em somewhat clean and lubricated if your driving thru alot of crap. I spend abit of time off the pavement and dont run front mudflaps, so they have frozen up a couple times when they have 50lbs of slushy mud and ice frozen onto them. But a quick blast with the pressure washer and some lube on the hinge pins every few months and they work awesome. Il never own a truck without em.

Go with factory ones or AMP tho, the bestop, knock off brands are garbage and wont last long, been there tried that.

Have had a few good shin bruises from these from not standing back far enough on a buddies truck!

Thanks for the info guys! How do you find these running boards for sturdiness? Do they flex and wiggle any when using them? There’s a long gap between the mounting brackets/ pivots just curious how sturdy they are.

My kids haven't broken them yet so I would say they hold up lol.

Honestly they are pretty strong

had them on my F350 years ago... motor went on passanger side and stayed down. Dealership said cost to replace the motor i could buy a new set. They look sweet but do flex. I'm 220 lb and they would flex a little with me standing on them. Old style didn't help much with a big ass lift but new styles now Power step XL have a 3" drop for lifted trucks...for low low price of $2,500
