17 chev duramax warranty question

So 3 weeks ago I took my 17 3500 duramax in for a fuel leak, found out I need a new high pressure fuel pump, they said it was ordered and in its way , find out yesterday it’s not on its way and is back ordered, have to wait till November 6 to see if it’s even available which will put me at a month on the shop,what are my options or what can I do at this point?looking for suggestions on how to deal with this , thanks guys,ps they did provide a rental vehicle

What's their to point out? A faulty fuel pump on order and shop booked you in, rat bag the rental!

I'm confused with your question on how to deal with this....the part and install labour are covered by warranty. The part is ordered but currently on backorder so the dealer has provided you a free replacement vehicle to drive.............sounds like the dealer is looking after you quite fine.......what more do you want?

Am I missing something?
I understand its only 3 weeks old and you want to drive your new wheels but the I think the dealer is doing what a dealer can do. Its just a faulty pump.....not a lemon.

We’ll i guess that’s what am getting at , how long is to long to have to let it sit in the shop get nothing done?it already took 3 weeks to find out it on back and no info on for how long

warranty will not pay the dealer for the labour to remove and re-install on the donor vehicle. If the install time is short, that may be a good option...if the dealer is willing.

I doubt they will do that , I guess it’s a bitch to get at, had to take a lot of **** off the engine to get at it,just worried that On the 6th they tell me it could be awhile before a new pump is available, but I quess it is what it is , just wondering if anybody else had this happpen.

Not sure exactly how much of redesign there was on the 17 Duramax, but even basic parts for them seem to be in short supply. Computer said it was time to replace the fuel filter on ours only to find out the filters were on back order and had to come out of the states. Not the dealer's fault, and it took 3 weeks to arrive, but at least we could still drive it while waiting.

Huge redesign on the 17's, The motor (big updates and strengthening), Trans, The fuel filter is underneath behind the tank and is self priming. Even the air filter is different.

Plus no one in there right mind would want a new truck used as a parts donations,

Other than the rental not being an equivalent vehicle, sounds like the dealer is already doing everything they can, they have no control over parts distribution. Double check your warranty but I don't believe there is any clause regarding length of time in the shop, unless it is causing a loss of revenue to the customer or generating costs for the customer, for example if you had a business and needed the truck to haul **** then they have to provide you with an equivalent rental or pay you for your losses. I know a guy that had his truck sit at the dealer for 3 months waiting for a rear diff, warranty is only as good as the parts supply, good luck.

The dealer is doing everything they can,that's what I was wondering ,is there a clause for length of time in the shop,or can it sit there for 6 month while I make payments and can't use it .

I had a 15 lml at work that needed a scr-dpf filter asmb, when I went to take it apart to replace the dpf psi sensor tubes where siezed into the filter
Took 3 months to get new lines as none where made yet for them

The rest of the story is the dumb azz client came in and it needed a def tank heater, he kept driving it with engine light on ( was at 32 g soon mass when I first checked it) I told him not to drive it, he needed his truck but b.c wild fire had all the rental trucks out... He put 1200 more km on and plugged it so bad would not clear

We as a dealer ended up loaning him a lot truck to get by, 1800 km he put on it and then this dumb azz goes to a different dealer, trades the 15 off on a 17, didn't even give our dealer a chance to deal

Big kick in the nuts, and that makes owners and managers not want to loan out lot trucks

It's definitely a lemon. Better sell it to me for 1/2 of what you paid + throw a tantrum at the dealership just for fun.
