Oil and fuel filter life

What do you guys go by for fuel and oil filter life .use the computer or go by KM's ?

Running 15/40 synthetic.

Truck has 21,000 km's

Should I believe the fuel filter meter or just replace it every 10,000 km?

2006 Cummins diesel 260000km 5150hrs. I change oil every 250hrs, I use 0w40 all year round. I change fuel filter every 500hrs. Equates to about 8000km between services.

07 lmm. use rotella 5/40. 8000km on oil, 16000km fuel filter. Almost 400k on the truck now!

I figure the engineers who designed the computer system regarding oil life should have a knowledgeable background and the inputs that they rely on (dust, temperature, motor heat, highway driving, town driving, etc., etc.) should all be incorporated into the equation. I rely on the oil life meter. Just my opinion.....:dance:

I just went over 39,000 with mine and have been thinking about this. I used to do my old diesel every second oil change, so at 20,000. Currently I am at 47% on my fuel filter. I have my last free oil change coming up in a few thousand KM. I am gong to ask them at the dealer what they normally do and make my final decision then. At work I do oil and fuel filters every 30,000km.

Ive got 405000km now on my work 2011 Silverado LML. Have always changed both on the computer. That's 16k for oil and 100k for fuel. I only use the GM fuel filters. I've cut a few open after the 100k and there's just a little discolouration, nothing else to speak of, dirt-wise, in there. Not one drop of fuel additive has been used. It runs like new. I had to delete at 194k and after a few oil changes the oil never gets sooty anymore. I think people get unnecessarily concerned about black oil though IMHO.

Other than $800 lower rad hose this thing has been amazing. No ball joints, u-joints, wheel bearings or anything. Original brakes would probably go another 300k!

That was my personal truck. He wouldn't return calls or e-mails and the RC's said there was nothing they could do at that point. Never seen him again. Hopefully karma takes care of him but it's not worth stressing about. I massaged things back into shape as best I could for now and picked up a new take-off box that I'll install one day.

I never gave much thought to the fuel filter. Hmm, I wonder if that may be the reason why my truck has felt sluggish lately.

For a newer truck, I would go with the oil meter and change when told too.
My 05 F350, I change the fuel filters every spring, cause it takes 10 years to put 25,000K on it. LOL

They say every tank to two of fuel a Regen is done, depending on conditions
