If I changed oil as often as some of you guys it would have been an extra $7500 in maintenance for my truck at 405k (I run 5-40 synthetic). Changing the fuel filter at 10k is excessive unless you're filling from some old farm tank.

These LML's are awkward to change the fuel filter and you probably risk more contamination on the wrong side of the filter just changing it.

Like I said, duramax are real touchy on restrictions, as they are a pull fuel and push fuel pump mounted on the engine, so if it has a hard time pulling fuel, it's running dry to a certain point, and hard on all the high fuel side parts

Always ran Rotella 5-40 in my duramax work trucks, change oil and filter every 10k and fuel filter every second oil change (20k). My last one had over 500 severely abusive k on it when it finally cratered. Taking better care of the new one and expecting at least 750k out of it. Be careful going by the % gauge, General Motors will not stand behind it as it does not meet "reasonable maintenance schedules", had issues with one of my fleet gas pots, guy ran it down to 10% every time, roughly 16-20k depending on time of year and when it piled up at 120k they said no warranty for me.

Oh and guys with 2011 and newer duramax, don't cheap out on air filters, use the g.m ones and make sure the filter sits in the lower air box tight and seals, as the cheap ones fall in, dust the man sensor and engine

I have had 3 of them yesterday with may sensor, underboost, dpf issues cause of this

Easy for you to say when that's like a years worth of driving on your truck lol.
Actually I have put on 5000 this summer ( since July when we got new trailer) just pulling the trailer, plus 2000 more with 2 trips to alberia and back not pulling the trailer and all the other stuff

06 cummins I change oil at 6000km and use rotella 15/40 non synthetic, fuel filter every second oil change. I can get that oil for $55 for 20l pail on sale. That works out to 1 and half oil changes so it's not expensive. But I do spend money on a good filter not a pos fram filter.

So my thought !
Diesel engines have injectors.
I have no problem changing fuel filters at minimum twice a year.
Once for summer fuel and once for winter fuel.
I sure dont put the same KM as some stated. but have never had injector problems.

Cheap maintenace for a piece of mind....

Change fuel filters in my sled each year aslo.

Up tp you, but an aesy fix than being stuck on the pass in limp mode and having it towed to Vernon and have Tex work on it,,,LOL

Last dmax I put 220 000 on it changing oil every 8000km and using rotella or chevron 15w40 non synthetic. Fuel filter every 3rd oil change as all my fuel was filtered twice before it hit my engine. Broke a crank.

My LML is getting done by the monitor system and running synthetic. Will see what happens.

Studies have shown over changing is just as bad as under changing. That said though I know guys that are meticulous and blow engines, and guys running the zero maintenance plan that haven't so who really knows.

Pretty easy to get dirt in an engine during filter changes if the guy doesn't give a crap

I sleep well at night with 12000-15000 km oil changes with full synthetic. Went off fuel meter for that filter, engine didn't blow up... Call me lucky I guess...

2011 cummins, change oil every 7k w. 0/40 Mobil 1, fuel filters every other oil change, filters are cheap with the fans lift pump, I run donaldsons and can buy both for fuel filters for $30.

Over changing oil a bad thing? Care to explain what you read?
