Does anyone on S&M have a rt ATV trailer? Am looking at buying one but the guy is telling me that it has no serial number because it is "custom". I call bs. But if anyone has one can you tell me where the serial number is stamped. I'm not buying nothing without it. Thank you in advance.

I don't but if its something near by you can look at the tongue for a sticker or vin plate. I have even seen them stamped under the tongue jack on older trailers. My trailer tongue has been LineX so the plate is covered but its still visible should i ever need to peel the line x off.

Correct me if I am wrong but in order to get a plate for it you would need a VIN for the registration. For home made trailers you can have a VIN assigned to it at a cost https://www.transportation.alberta.ca/2825.htm

Otherwise I would call the Manufacturer and asked them where they would have put the VIN. Stolen atv/utility trailers were quite common a few years ago.

Ya the problem is its in calgary and i'm up north. To far to just go check it out, and yes your right need a serial # to get a VIN. But definitely not a homemade trailer so should have a stamped VIN from manufacturer. I looked and it doesn't seem like RT is in business anymore so can't contact directly. I asked the seller if its registered and he says is going to look again today.

Or its was stolen and the plate removed. Be careful.

Exactly that's why I want the #. Unfortunately its just to far just to go check it out. No # before hand and I won't be going anywhere.

it should have a vin plate and usually stamped, almost always on left side of tongue or left side of trailer near front along side. cannot register without serial number,my son went thru this a couple years ago and without serial number they come out check trailer over to make sure its road worthy, then come back a few weeks later to stamp and put serial number tag on it,price changes due to single or tandem axle.have to watch auctions close especially farm auctions before bidding check for serial number otherwise can end up with trailer that cannot be registered. if this guy does not know where the serial number is,how did he register it? ask him to send you a photo copy of the registeration. if he has never had plates on it i would be nervous of buying it,unless he just purchased it but then why would he be selling it
