I have read some of the threads for tires but was looking for something specific for my extra rims. Stock size now is 285/60/20 on 8" wheels, thinking about 275/65/20 on same offset 9" wheels which I already have or maybe 285/65 or some combo that has a little taller sidewall without rubbing. Lots of guys running 295/60's already on stock height dodges but prefer stock width or less for winters.

I have run Duratracs on two separate trucks and I found they tend to cup and wear funny and I only ran them in winter. I ran the old KO's for a few winters and they were not as good as the Duratracs. I still am looking for something with a semi open A/T design like those for the early season staging area drives and snow covered highways. I haven't ever run siped mud terrains but I do see that is getting to be popular.

We have the new BFG KO2's on some of our work trucks. They appear to be wearing well through 20-25k on lighter trucks. I am open to those. I am also looking at the Toyo CT's. I have seen a few sets of those and driven trucks with them so I know they are decent enough. Both the KO2's and CT's have the snowflake.

The Hankook Dynapro RF10's as an example are not aggressive enough for what I prefer. They do not clear out snow as well, or mud in spring conditions. Lots of guys like the M55's but I find those to be more a highway tread than their comparable CT's and sizing is an issue with the M55's. Even though these are my second set for winter only, that is still 6 months of the year, so they need to last.

Thoughts?

The company I work for uses every brand out there, oilfield conditions. I've personally run Toyo, Nitto, BfG, duracrap, and now Cooper. Huge fan of the Coopers.

I have a set of Cooper ST/Max on work truck now, like them so much I put them on my duramax. They don't have the snowflake though, I pack chains.

Last winter i ran xt4's I believe best fall to spring tire out there. Unreal traction in snow and ice yet worked in mud pulling 5th wheel in the awesome spring we had. not sure of sizes though. Unfortunately they were thieved along with a pile of other **** when I got broke into this summer. I would purchase xt4's again without hesitation. I went st/max for all around tire, only put 10k a year on my diesel pulling. Reviews on cooper website are great too.

Cooper will be cheaper. Check Schwab gmc, they have great pricing on cooper. I did 6 tires stud mount balance for less.

Cooper at/w is the winner, all season durability, winter traction, come in 10 ply, and well priced.

I will have to look at the Coopers somewhere. They are priced lower throughout their line up. Many of the ones suggested are a great tire but less of an a/t tread design which has been beneficial for unmaintained roads.

I am weary of brands that haven't typically haven't been used on heavier trucks.

I am running a set of Nokian Hakaplida Stud ( or however you spell that lol) on my F-350.
Huge difference on ice, starting but more importantly stopping.

agreed for a true winter tire those rock... ran them on 2500 Suburban from 2009 to last year in AB... better then blizack and night and day too a all season like BFG... duratracks with studs might work but never ran them... noticed the cops run them on their trucks for winter tires

As far as I'm aware you have to have M+S or snowflake rated tires on all pickups in BC now, carrying chains isn't enough anymore, this changed October 1, 2015.

The Coopers that Allseasons mentioned would have the M+S rating. M+S or Snowflake is the requirement, some have both which I do not see as a bad thing.

I have Toyo CT's and they are great. I run them year round. I put miles on and they last.

Have the snowflake(so they are legal in BC for winter) and they are a good mud tire too.
I run these also, although mine are studded. VERY happy with them. And they LOOK good too. 😆
