I highly doubt they will take deleted diesels, if they do it would be at a significant discount so they could reinstall the emissions garb. Then the liability of selling it (warranty etc)

Easy peasy. Give the US border 72 hours notice. After 72 hours, bring vehicle to US border for inspection. He simply verifies the VIN and off you go. Drive to Canadian border crossing. Declare that you are importing a vehicle. Go inside, pay the pst and gst on the purchase amount. Drive away and get some hooks and blo with the money you just saved.

I’ve been exporting equipment to the states for the last month and a half, and bringing some stuff back up to Canada as we. I have a broker I could hook you up with that can help.
One of the things you’ll have to look into is if the vehicle you want to import conforms to Canadian motor vehicle safety standards, if yes it’ll be easy.

Also if it’s a “classic” it’s pretty easy. I can’t remember exactly how old it has to be, it’s between 20-25yrs.

Send in the 72 hour notice and meet the truck on the US side. Let them know it's a wreck/salvage. Go through the same process but with the trucker with you. It's best to babysit them. No need for a broker but if you are more than 2 hours from the border then a broker may be a better option. I usually get the US truckers to drop the vehicle at/near the Us border and send a Canadian trucking company down to grab it. The Us trucking companies dont know the border process and they charge a big chunk of cake to cross the border. They kinda dumb so treat them as such.

yeah but if I can get it here for the right price it will be well worth it.
I thought a few years back the US implemented an additional rule where you had to get a special number of some kind to export. It was controlled by the US Bureau of Census so they could track the numbers??? Is that still the case or did they stop doing that?

Be careful. Go to the RIV website. There’s rules about bringing back stuff with a “salvage “ title. Not all are allowed.

You could die if you import a vehicle. It is very, very scary.
