VALEMOUNT, B.C. — Only one day after an avalanche killed a snowmobiler in British Columbia — and one week after another snowslide left two men dead — a third fatal avalanche has struck the province, this time killing two French skiers.

RCMP received a report Saturday afternoon of the avalanche, categorized as a Class 3 to 3.5 at Wells Gray National Park, north of Kamloops.

A licensed heli-ski operator was descending a ski run with a group of 10 skiers and two guides when the avalanche occurred, police said.

Three male skiers were buried, and two, aged 65 and 19, were killed. Their names are not be released at the request of their families.

The third man was recovered quickly from the snow and suffered no injuries.

When the other two men were found, they were unconscious and could not be resuscitated.

The BC Coroners Service, with the help of the RCMP, is investigating the deaths of both men.
