my opinion only
but you can buy a lot of painted lath for the price of these ron, hard to see so you'll have to use more= money. can't see survey industry using them. i'd try driving a few into Alberta frozen ground before purchase. looks like well made for California use. may also be a pain if you have to go back to pick them up, falling over in the snow.

I've been supplying high intensity reflective to the local clubs for years (for free) and they staple it to sticks or on fences.
Saw some of Minstic man's work on Sunday - real easy to find the fences or trails.
