i am thinking the same.... my 2000 rmk engine has just died ....was thinking of swapping the rear track skid etc into a 2003 edge 500 .....its short track just cant get me about untill the trail is packed.. its the ultra lite 136 ,2 inch lugs.

it works just fine, the only difference is the 99 engine plate is a full plate the 2000 and up are just a couple straps. re-use the 99 plate.
