A low pressure center developed south of Calgary early this morning bringing heavy snow to much of Southern Alberta. 10 to 20 centimetres of snow were reported through the Medicine Hat, Brooks and Calgary regions with local accumulations of up to 30 cm. The low pressure center is forecast to track northeastwards today and tonight. Most snowfall should exit Southern Alberta this evening. Accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are expected in Red Deer and Coronation. In addition to snowfall strong easterly winds of 40 gusting to 60 km/h are expected through the Coronation region. These winds combined with falling snow will give reduced visibility in blowing snow. Unofficial snowfall amounts as of 12 PM include: Vulcan.....................27 cm Calgary intl.
