We are running an AST 1 course in Fernie this weekend and I'm looking for what the simplest terrain and access area is? I've been told Coal Creek is friendly. Would you agree? Other suggestions? We're looking for no exposure to avalanche danger.

Thanks

Agreed. Both cabins have large open areas right out front and lots of simple terrain within easy access. Was there for the first time a couple weeks ago, loved it.

Yes, Coal Creek staging area and under 20 kms to the new Rolling Hills cabin. Great cabin, BBQ is accessible for your lunch, and lots of terrain for pits. The trail will be groomed Friday night and should be baby-butt smooth.

Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a map of how to drive through Fernie to get to the staging area.
