Unstable Slopes

- temperature warming quickly
-snow has a hollow sound
-whumping noise in the snow
-snow or wind load on leeward slopes
-rain, weakens the snow very fast
-recent avalanches in area
-shooting cracks in the snow

things to increase your chances

-do not center punch a slope
-turn out to edge of slope , not towards the center
-stay clear of large rocks or trees in middle of slope
-stay clear of terain traps, gullies, creek bottoms or concave bowls as you can be buried deep.
-only one rider on a slope at a time, you get stuck you are better off getting out on your own.
- watch others on hill from a safe spot away from run out zone

definitely not the gospel but may help. any others?

People need to also be aware that any hill with snow on it is like a loaded gun and if you are at the bottom that gun is pointed at you. The above precautions are a very good start.
