Is any crime acceptable? But what does your post mean. So sick of the blame game. It was my stuff, I didn't take enough precaution and I should take more steps to protect my stuff. I know the scum bags are out there, gee I bought insurance, guess I knew it could happen. Why is always the town, or the hotel or the cops fault. Man up. I guess like some it may all be to much for you. Not me.
Not looking at blaming anyone. You park in a lot with security cameras, and a guard on duty. Take further steps and disable the ingintion, and don,'t advertise on your trailer. You feel you have taken necessary steps to protect your stuff, but are up against professionals that seem to be one step ahead. I guess what I'm trying to say is that when you are up against people that spend all there time thinking about how to steal something, we need to put as much thought into figuring out how to stop them.
We put 10 000 riders up the trails before Christmas, not sure, maybe 10 sleds stolen including three locals, that I know of. And since then, they released the bait sled and all has been fairly quite. Nice to hear. Again, stuff happens, everywhere, boats, bikes, cars, you get it, it is just life, been thieves for ever, always will be. Do your best, buy insurance. Or be "the boy in the plastic bubble" one of Travolta's best by the way.
Lost my Quad out at Brazeau Dam and my wife's dirt bike from the shed beside the house. It sucks but it seems like unfortunately when a person has expensive toys then there will always be some people around who want it but don't want to work for it. This problem is not limited to towns like Revy or Valemount. Its everywhere that there is stuff that can easily be parted or flipped for a quick buck. All we can do is try to make it hard enough for the pr@#%s that they will leave your stuff alone. JMHO
The punishment for all crimes needs to be extreme, not just a holiday at an institution with 3 squares and a hot shower every day. Just my opinion but criminals have it better than our seniors.
Everyone blames Revy or Valemont or wherever they happen to be riding. However they should realize its the biggest gathering for sleds and its like going to a shopping market for them. Way easier than stealing them from a random street in say Calgary where they would just come upon them by chance.
put some very cool advertising on a enclosed trailer.....behind a ford....and put 6 guys inside it and sit and wait......they will open the door sometime........take them up to the top of a sledding hill and leave them.....do tell all the sledders going up whats up there and why.......
Its not the town, its our justice system and the bleeding hearts who feel criminals rights are just as important as everyone else.
If there were harsher penalties for crimes against property it might curb some of the theft issues but we live in a forgiving country with no real consequences.
Theft many times is a crime of opportunity. Try and eliminate the opportunity as best you can.
