OK, I'm stumped. Almost every time my little guy rides the sled the brake band fails right behind the front loop. Any ideas why? I suspect it's the clutch as the outer drum of the clutch is awfully wobbly on there causing the drum to contact the brake band all the time and overheating it until he uses the brake and then it breaks.

Never mind. Took the clutch off and found this.
Missing a circlip and part of the bushing. Allowed the clutch part inside the drum to twist under braking, forcing the side of the brake band into the chain, which ripper the brake band apart. Just posting this should someone encounter the same issues.
