Newbe Questions about '09 TRX420FG

1) After 1st oil change, I've noticed that when cold trans shifts hard (almost lurches) Once it is warmed up it shifts fine. Dealer said to use 10/40 oil, which I did. Owners manual says 10/30 or 10/40. Should I have gone with 10/30 instead?

2) Dealer also said don't use synthetic oil as it will cause shifting problems with new style dual synchro shifting. Any thoughts on this?

I can't say anything about the oil, I use 5w30 I believe. Maybe 10w30...

Anyways, mine shifts hard as well when it is cold. First time of the day it is always a bit rough. If you can, let it run for 30 seconds or a minute and it's fine.

Thanks for the reply. I did let it warm up last weekend before I went out and it shifted fine.
