the credit lenders have tightened up.

and no offence, please, mac james is in house financing, it is where you go when no other bank, or car brand financing will approve you.

oh yeah, and everytime he attempts to get approved, he is further worsening his credit score. every time some one pulls up your report, it shows as a inquiry. lots of inquiries, no credit taken, or constant tries to get credit, show a potential lender that he is credit seeking. that is not good. a general rule of thumb is three inquiries without obtaining credit is okay, anything more then that and it will lower your score.

scores are based out of 1000. the higher the score the better your credit, but there are circumstances that are taken into consideration as well. it will show highest credit on each account, how many times you have been late, if you owe the government money, if you had a co signer, so he should maybe phone equifax or trans union, or go to his bank and look at his bureau and deal with what shows up!!

Yeah, even when credit shopping it worsens your score. Something they should teach in High School! Best bet would be to be good with the car payments and try later. Or borrow money from family and pay off car. Then apply for more credit and repeat. Builds a good credit record. A sled is probably the worst idea. A lending company will not look highly on toys.

What he ^^^ said. Tell him to back down from his sled dream for a second and spend a little time saving cash, he will get a better deal on the sled if he pays for it all up front, cold hard cash rules the pricing world.
