Mbrp can + engine damage

Just installed whole new motor on 2002 summit 700. Had the same can since new and now that mbrp silencer has 5000 km on it. Is putting the stock silencer back on a good idea since the packing in the mbrp can might be getting old and burnt out? Can they be re packed? If it is burnt out a bit is there any chance it will wreck my new motor?Or do I just have to buy a new one... I'm so sad it is going to sound so lame when I drive it

5000kms is pretty good. i would just shell out the 250-300 and get a new can.

My sons 06 has 5000 miles on it I wouldn't worry about it.

ive just heard stories about having all the packing burnt out and then the motor blowing because of it.

packing burning out will reduce back pressure but really how much back pressure is there in the can to begin wit? lol
