i was bidding on an item and i kept getting outbid by these usernames that were all the same but with differant letters and numbers....and the final price is way more than what the item is actually worth...is this some sort of scam so the user does not have to let the item go for my bid price.....

ebay aint any longer what it used to be

there is so many bots out which the seller can run so u either get frustrated and bid overprized just cause u think u get a deal
but since u already know it was over the orignal price just leave

u should safe the seller and watch cause this item will be back on the net in about 3-4 days for sure :)
but now u know u dont have to bid on it

most guys doing that kinda stuff will contact the highest "real" bidder that blablabla the winner cant pay doesnt want it or whatsoever and if u want it
thats how they mostly do it
but i would write him than a nice mail and tell him what a douche he is and he can go and f... himself

if u think contacting ebay will do anything
it will only waste ure time :)

The numbers on the usernames has something to do with user privacy and as for the price well just put in a bid that you feel is fair and stick to it, there are not as many good deals on eaby like there used to be......happy ebaying.

A few years ago, i bought a lot of stuff off e-bay while rebuilding a written off 2006 yamaha midnite venture special........ I learned that you only watch the item, without bidding, right up until the last hour or so, then bid...... Don't bid before, because it sometimes seems to trigger a bidding frenzy. I bought a lot off e-bay again this summer while i rebuilt 2 quads and found the same thing.... Didn't get all the items i bid on, but only bid while there was a deal. Eg: Like new drive axle $25.00 for '00 500 sportsman. Cost $25.00 shipping(was in canada)

I wait until the final seconds before I bid as well, have a couple tabs open with bids ready. one tab has the max I'm willing to pay, that's the last resort bid. Sniping is the best chance you have of winning an item....never bid before the last hour.

Yup me too. I use bid nip. Works very good. I usually put out a low bit now because of ghost bidders, then I'll initiate my snipe.
I have a hard time when I see the item go into a so called "bidding frenzy" bumping the price up, only to receive a message later stating I have a second chance to win the item at my last placed bid. (my low ball bid) I feel most of the time it's the seller running the bids up so I don't often purchase on a second chance message. Unless I really really need the item up for auction.

perfect example on ebay right now. A Boss seat for the sled of your choosing had a reserve price of $369.00 (which is the everyday price at Sled-x). The bidding is now up to $390.00 + $40.00 Shipping in the US or $52.00 shipping to Canada with about 12 hours left on the auction. I don't get it ?? If you can use your computer to look at auctions on Ebay, why can't you do a search to find them selling for less at Sled-X ??
I guess there are some people still out there that are willing to throw their money away. I do purchase a lot on ebay (more than I should) instead of supporting our local dealers. But money is money and it still does not grow on trees..
