black slime ring in reservoir

found a black slimy ring in my coolant reservoir. is this a normal thing or what? sucked out the coolant and cleaned the ring off. could that be from being on the side for a minute or two while i was running. has anyone else had this problem

small coolant leak from o ring head gasket just replaced buddies on his 700 pull your power valve out if you find any white creamy oil thats the problem
