Ok major oil leak between the halfs of the case, engine is out does the mag and clutch have to come off to split the case? cause the mag it a PITA to get off so it's still on and the case won't split bent the starter pulley using a pully puller on it . Left the top end on also except the head cover wanted to see the how the pistons/cylinders are doing. Anything else shoud be done when the bottom is apart? sled only has 3K on it

*edit* found a schematic the shows a plate behind the mag....any idearers how to get the mag off?

To split the case you need to pull the mag. off. Undo the big nut and use A steerning wheel puller with three metric bolts. ( you might have to heat the center to brake the bond, not to much heat .This shaft is tappered and has a woodruff key to hold the mag in place. Under the mag is your stator. there will be three bolts holding the coils in place. remove the stator * do not unscrew your pick up ( a little magnet thingy screwed dowm to the top of the case) otherwise you will have to regap / time it. once you have all you base bolt and case bolts out it should split.

I forgot to mention you will need to remove the rotary assembly on the front. ( carb. side ) This also holds the upper and lower case together. You will need a degree wheel to re-time rotary valve (thin metal disc.)
