Found a deal on a 2015 summit 174 with 3000km on it. Just wondering the life expectancy of these 800s as don’t want to have to worry about doing a top end right away. Looking for guys experiences with them. Obviously stuff can happen but in general what’s the life expectancy of these engines. Thanks

i just picked up a 15 Freeride with 2,000km. I was wondering the same thing. The day i got it home the neighbor few houses down came over and told me he has over 4,000km on his 16 Freeride and he only rides the Mtns....hasn't done a thing to the motor, he also says his is bone stock too, not even a aftermarket can. Was very nice to hear positive talk about these motors. I've done some searching on this site and most guys praise these sleds and not a lot of bad from what i can find.

4500 on my 2014 XM, rebuilt the clutches last year but the engine is still pulling strong.
Martins bore-scoped it last year and everything looked fine.

About 7000km and then just start doing compression etc. Ray Mason of Totally Awesome Adventures had 3 over 15,000 km one was at 19,000km one of those the piston went at 14500 and was covered under warranty, the others had nothing, they all ran amazing! These were 2013 xm x machines

Have 3700 km on mine. Was going to put a new chain case chain in it and keep on driving it. Was half thinking of changing bearings on the drive system, or have all you high miler guys just been driving them?

T3 chain sooner yes, regular 3000 to 5000 km depending on what and how you ride, how often you changed the oil and kept adjuster in spec
Bearings, as they go I guess, my 2014 has 9700 km on it all original skid bearings and last time I checked they all felt and rolled good

10200 here till a full rebuild was in order

9500 I put a turbo on the sled. Blew it up and rebuilt it on used parts for another 5-600km

at 10200 the stator bolts come out and that’s when it got a full rebuild

Compression at 9500 was still at 130ish.

crank runout was at 8 thou

these things are bullet proof, Just always do the warm up. Use quality oil and fuel, be proactive with maintenance and it will serve you well.
