2017 800 163 3" gear /chain question

Will a 46 tooth gear work with the stock chain? Has anyone ran a 18 tooth top gear with the stock chain and 44 tooth bottom gear?

I've got a collection of gears, Stock is 19/44 with 74 pitch chain.
18/45 works with the 74P.
18/46 does not work with 74P and a 76P is way to much dog leg and I don't think the slack adjuster has enough range.
19/46 requires the 76P and takes up 75% of the adjuster, which I just ran in Revy a few weeks ago. Noticeable difference. Buddy ran a 18/45 and work well too on 163 x 3
I'm about to install a 17/46 and hopefully the 74P will fit.
