I think it was 3 links we added to a 104 with 20/51. But it likely would have worked without adding the links on a worn chain. I am going to say no on a brand new chain. Maybe with a used. Or run 20/51

where did you get your bottom sprocket from caper? Doo dealer? This setup probably gets rid of the monster dog leg you find on stock 2008 163 gearing

I got the gear from my dealer, it does get rid of the dogleg in the chain, and it s good way to go if you want to gear down. but if you want to keep the stock 21/49 gearing put a 104link chain on that will get rid of it as well. I had that 104 on my 09 before I geared my sled down.

435cat.jpg dry weight looks pretty good on the 153 catm the ski is touching but if it were load bearing it would be flat on the ground, the new etech also has a 2.5in track as far as I know or my buddies 2012 freeride is supposed to when it arrives, this picture was posted on another forum I am skeptical as even cat says its 465 but this would be impressive

Looks like it isnt on the x model. The freeride had the option of the old 2 1/4 or the new 2 1/2.

Caper - you wanted your other thread deleted, so I figured I would post here.

So you are correct in the 8000 Max for last year. I did see 800Etecs with 7900 max rpm stickers though for 2011's. Either way, Ski-Doo needs to figure out what, why and how they are justifying the change.

Did real life testing determine that peak HP dropped off after 7900 on the etec? Or is it a way to keep these motors running longer for warranty purposes?

Yep I don't see the point in having the other thread, I forgot I made this one.

Has anyone mentioned that the 2012's have new cylinders with different porting? and I am told that the 2012 pistons are different than the re-call pistons for the 2011 E-tecs.

It is a different part number, but thats not uncommon year to year.

Got some proof Chris, or just what your sources are seeing?

No, I hear the ports, heads and pistons are different. There is supposed to be a bridge between the port and the ring ends run on this bridge. There is also supposed to increased cooling in these cylinders too. This is what I hear, still to be confirmed.
