Hey I bent my rear part of my tunnel on my 08 m1000 and I'm wondering what the best conversion kit to update it to the newer style rear end on the 09 and up's. Any ideas or suggestions would be great

Did the 09 tunnel update on my 08 M8 and it looks SWEET!! Bought all the stuff from Cat, the 09 rear tunnel piece, the 09 heat exchanger, the 09 bumper and the 09 led light. We got most stuff 1/2 price since it was a take off from a brand new HCR, just had to buy the heat exchanger. I've heard of guys using their original heat exchanger and bending them flat in press to keep the costs down.....maybe someone on here has done it? We just decided to go with all new parts.

I've done lots of them. And i just use all new parts from cat including the new cooler. It looks really good and is easy to do. I use the original cooler from '08 that are in the top corners of the tunnel.

Yeah, we kept the original coolers that run alongside each side of the tunnel, just replaced the flat heat exchanger at the back with an 09.

Is there any cutting involved? I've seen a couple done that u need to cut the tunnel and they look like hack jobs!

Yes there is cutting, that's hot you get the tunnel narrowed at the back, as long as you mark it well and take your time cutting it turns out fine!

a combination of a die grinder and tin snips. Mostly tin snips. It's really easy going. The hardest part is cutting the compound angle on the running board to get the BDX gussets to line up nicely with no ugly gaps or jagged peices sticking out. The tunnel cuts like paper with the snips

Here's some tunnel supports that I have fabbed up for the M.. the tunnel material is very thin and will not support the weight of fuel being hauled back there very well.

These are multi-purpose supports giving additional length to the bumper, mounts for fuel and support to the tunnel.

So I ordered all the parts for doing this off of a 2011 cat. Turns out there's no cutting involved the way i'm doing it because I'm adding the whole rear section and changing out the foot grips on the sides to the shorter ones that are on the new sleds. I think this will be a much cleaner way of doing it. Might cost a bit extra but not really concerned about that! Once I get it all put back together I'll post some pics

DON'T buy the Skinz tunnel extension. The previous owner of my M1000 put one on it and it has horizontal cracks where the flap attaches. Very flimsy.

Bumper is very good though!
