I have a 868 big bore xm with a challenger extreme 174x16x3" track. It's the old school 174 with full width lugs. My sled rips but I can't help wonder if this could be the next mod to try. I'm playing mostly in the trees and thinking about a 15" wide 3"'track. Has anyone tried this. I will lose some floatation but should gain track speed and benefit in significant weight loss/ power gain. Possible handling benefits also.

Did it on a 163 .
Work awesome and picked up some track speed.
Went from a 2.5 to the 2.6 Polaris track at that time.
Wished they made the 2.6 cat track in 174 as that is what I would go to .
Are you just going to cut your 16 wide down?
Cheapest way to go.

Thinking of buying a new 3" or 3.2. But yes cutting it down would work good too. Powderclaw is by far the best track ever made. 174x 3" powderclaw would be awesome. The new skidoo 3" track is plenty lighter and has flex edge. Maybe that would work to if I can find one.
