What type of winch should I buy

Hey everyone I have a 2009 outty 650 and my warn which just calfed. So I'm looking at replacing. It I was looking on line and warn are a bit pricey and I no a could guys having problems with them . So if anyone's could give me some advice on purchasing a new winch that will give me the best bang for my buck. Also will I have to buy a new bracket to install or can I modify old one to work

A lot of guys are having good luck with the Runva or so they say...lol they're priced decent too.

The guys I see running Runva have been good. It's not a fast winch.

I broke the cable on my 4500 lb runva winch today pulling sideways, brother in law broke the spool on his runva winch yesterday, Was a heavy pull, So far for the money spent they are good. Seems the SxS when stuck are usually very stuck. So far i have been happy with the winch, better than others no idea. But definitely an option to look at

I just bought a new warn pro vantage 3500 about 3 weeks ago. It replaced a 3000 warn I gotta say outta the 40 or so times I've needed it, it's been flawless more power and the dash light doesn't come on near as often. The pro vantage is definitely a step up from the older warns.

My winch goes in but not out any idea what parts I would need

Just pull it out and take the winch apart its very easy to do and broken parts will be obvious. The warn winches that come from the factory are not well sealed so its probably got a loose or dirty connection inside if it won't go the one direction

Viper are pretty good, read the reviews. Call them directly, ask for the ebay discount (8% less).... ~$260 for a 3500lb winch, synthetic cable, remote extension, delivered to my door in less than a week...

I'm also betting the solenoid (contractor). Its the small black box located directly behind the winch on the winch plate, at least on my grizzly it is. To make sure that it is in fact the solenoid, take a 10 mm wrench or socket and reverse the blue and yellow cables at the winch. Since yours only pulls in, switching the cable while pressing the in button will let out cable, but won't let in cable if the out is pressed. Basically confirms that the winch itself including the motor and gears are fine. You'll have to remove the winch to access the contractor. Just clean your connections and apply dielectric grease to each one. Also, if you ride much mud or water, I'd apply a small bead of silicon or any other waterproofing to the seal on the new contractor. Take out the bolts and its just a o-ring.

The 2 small wires going onto the control box is the signal wires from the switch

One of the wires breaks inside and only works one way

Take it apart and resolder the one broken wire

I have fixed lots that have this issues

Superwinch Terra series....the 3500lb is fairly frequently on sale at princess auto for $250 or less. Its fast quiet and very tough and durable. If you want synthetic you'd have to get it separately but that can be done for pretty cheap online.
