Was looking at buying a XC 450 for the wife, upon researching there seems to be positive feedback on them and they look decent, but they are also a Kymco Maxxer 450, exact same unit with a different speedometer and badging. Now that doesn't necessarily bother me cause the feedback from owners is good but it leaves me wondering if I shouldn't just save the $$ and buy the Kymco model, just can't imagine being at a ride with a off brand in the pack, I would never live it down.

She's not going to like a 450 after coming off an 800....

I was looking at them too for my lady. I haven't heard any feedback on either though or ridden with one to make an assessment of their performance.
Only difference or plus either way that I could see is the AC warranty may be better and easier to deal with.

The 800 was mine she hated it because it was to big and always rode my dads Kodiak because she was more comfortable on it

Actually the kymco on paper has the better warranty to.

On paper yes but are the dealers of these worth a damn? They all seem like fly by night kind of outfits from what I have seen.

That little 450 with some clutching and tweaking is pretty quick.

As a big Rotax fan I would suggest the new quads can-am has coming out this month. Outlander L 450 or 500.
I'm sure your wife would like the power steering.

2015 Can-Am Outlander L 450 and 500 Preview

Problem is can am is like polaris they just make the big bike and put the smaller engine in it. The new can ams would be decent IMO as they have fairly good power for a little quad but they will also be far more money in typical Can Am fashion.

Other companies do this too. Kind of annoying.

Weight difference is only 15 lbsish but power is like 30 less on the can-am. I'd get a smaller cc one for my chick but she wants a smaller chassis as well. Reason she is going with a Honda 420. Decent power, irs, power steering but also smaller and lighter than a can-am Polaris or yamaha grizzly etc. She had a 650 can-am but didn't like how big it was and felt.

my can am dealer is also a Kymco dealer. and he is awesome. so not all of them are fly by nighters. don't have any experience with the kymco personally though.

I think I am going to give the kymco branded one a try talked to a dealer and have them down to under 5 out the door on a non current Kymco maxxer, not real stressed out by the idea of having to work on it an I figure worst case scenario I can take it to the local cat dealer seeing as it's bolt for bolt the same quad.

You cant go wrong at 5K,,,,,,,,,,Much better than a Honda ,lets say.Much more power than a Honda, and a lot less maintenance..........

Also Kymco is not a chino knockoff company, they are a big reputable company.

How could you go wrong with a company that makes such classics as: Dink 50 A/C, Dink L/C, Dink/Yager 125, Dink 150/200, and of course, the Grand Dink. LOL.

Well I bought a new 2012 maxxer. Gotta say it's a nice enough lookin machine and IMO nicer looking than the cat as it's not as flashy and loud looking.

Your FN kidding me right?
Made in Taiwan.
What do you think KYMCO stands for? Kwang Yang Motor Company Ltd. (KYMCO).
And less maintenance than a Honda? Put the stupid stick down - you have hit yourself with it enough times already.
Kymco has been around since '95. Show me a KYMCO still running tip top with almost zero maintenance after only 5 years and I can show you a 1000 20 y/o Hondas.

They are priced like that cuz they are throw away machines. I have been looking at them for a few years now. They don't last. The reason 90% of kids on little ATV's are riding them.

If Honda had a little more reliability a lot of kymco
Owners would likly switch....even of it meant a drastic drop
In performance....

I would trade that Honda generater for a kymco
In a heartbeat ..... More watts and way more reliability .
Power and Honda should never be combined in the same conversation....
