I think that is the main question... and the hardest to answer. Either way, someone will be upset.
I kind of agree with this if you're only affecting yourself, but when it comes to public safety and maybe more importantly a public health care system funded by tax payers then individuals aren't always the best ones to be making the decisions. I do fear the slippery slope that can be caused by regulation though. Where do we draw the line? I really don't know.

You can't talk about the drain on the health care system, when there are just as many pedestrians, swimmers, bikers etc. etc. that die from head injuries. If we go down that road, soon we will all have helmets on 24/7 from birth until death.

That's the slippery slope I was referring to. Where do you draw the line?

Uhh yeah, that's a little exaggeration... equal numbers of swimmers, pedestrians, bikers...? 1000 atv'ers vs 1000000 pedestrians.

The chances of a head injury is higher in ATV'ing, with a lot less people than pedestrians.

Not a real comparison.

Well you can actually get a dui on a atv at work we install ignition interlock devices for those who have had dui one specific client had the driver controll board pull his device out and re suspend his license due to being caught on a atv while camping he was pissed when we removed it said it was unfair that they suspended him for 6 months and he could re applynto have it installed back in his truck for a 2 year period after. All i said is its just common sense they are trying to teach you but that is gone in todays younger society. He wanted to fight me lol.

I will not dis agree that i dont enjoy a drink duringnthe day while riding. But 99.9% of the time a 6 pack goes and wife and i come back wit half of it or more

I have cleaned up this thread, removed the personal attacks and such.

If I see anymore personal attacks and slander I will start handing out infractions. Keep it on topic folks.

Helmet legislation will not make people wear helmets. Having the common sense to protect yourself from possible injury does. No different then the guy wearing sunglasses when sledding in the bush, or quadding. Although more comfortable then goggles and better then wearing no PPE, it doesn't offer the same protection. That said, I wear a helmet when I get on a motorcycle / sled / quad, etc - it just makes sense.

I always wear my helmet! I think if adults dont want to wear their helmet then they are old enough to be dumb and deal with it later... NOW CHILDREN on the other hand, should ALWAYS wear a helmet even if they are a passenger.. I cant stress how many times last season I saw children riping up the roads wearing NO HELMETS.. come on parents..... I for sure think it should be law for anyone under 18 to wear a hlemet or get a ticket.. I bet the parents dont want to pay that ticket so they will make sure the kids are wearing them...
