CV boot clamp tool

I know, I can buy this tool from the dealership. Trying to avoid the local stealership as of right now. I am doing a boot on my outlander 1000 and I have a tool for doing automotive cv's, but the clamp on the quad looks to be a little different? If anyone could link me to the proper tool for tightening the clamps that would make this job 1000 times easier. Thanks,

Arff, thanks for the offer but I am looking to buy one. Unfortunately I have a bad feeling this won't be my last encounter with a cv boot lol. Damn IFS/IRS...I would own a solid axle quad if it didn't ride like a little red wagon. Maybe that's why honda's are red?

My quad doesn't ride like a little red wagon and I have a solid axle...lol Not a Honda though. Rides pretty damn good for an old beater it is...hahaha (when the IFS front end ain't broke...hehehe)

Anyways I was looking at the one from Princess Auto as well....just wasn't too sure either though!!

The tool at Acklands is 100+ dollars, the exact same tool is 25 at Euro Auto on west end. Works really good on quads.

I have a king and I use side cutters carefully, never had any problems..... good luck

I hold the tail with vice grips and pry a flat screw driver against the vice grips then bend it over fast and easy

similar to this except when you pull pry with a screwdriver against the clip and vice grip

The clamps on my outlander are different than in that video. I'm begining to think I will need a "can am" tool.

Thanks for the offer, I chose to go get cornholed at turples for the tool...I'll probably end up selling it, $83 tools are too rich for my blood and I plan on switching to an aftermarket boot.

Princess auto has it and it works very well, It squeezes and pushes it flat at the same time. Like I said it works well and I think I only paid 29 bucks for it.

There are two types of clamp pliers, eared and earless. You probably need the earless type. The Princess auto ones are junk. I made my own using an old pair of Channel lock/waterpump pliers. Simple and pretty much free.

You and your GHETTO boot clamps :rolling:

Thought I'd never say this but Polaris boot clamps work well. I have every boot clamp tool made and paid a small fortune for them. The best tool in my box is a homemade jobber I made from a pair of channel lock pliers same as riverjet.
