Can Am - New 2012 Hand Warmers - need help

Looking at installing the new 2012 hand warmers on my 2010 Outlander

BRP said the new warmers only work in new 2012 outlanders -- my question is WHY?

If it is only because the wiring might be to little then I would just run new wires back to the batteries

But if the handle bars are different diameters then I can see them not working

Has anyone tried / installed a set of the new warmers yet

I think they are plug and play on 12 and up models.I have an 11 and son has a 12 I just went with the Symtecs as they have 5 heat settings to the 4 on OEM. Price was also considerably cheaper.Either one you have to remove the glued on grips a real PIA on a canam.

I have heard that the switches on the BRP ones are garbage. Very fragile. I'd go with the symtec ones as well

Looked at them for the wifes 2011 renegade. They wont work without a bunch of cutting and trimming. We took them out of the package at Riverside and compared. Better off buying aftermarket as others have said. I will be going aftermarket on my 12 also even though they will work on mine.

Like Pinko says the switch panels are garbage. Had a Moose dual zone on 3 previous machines, over 12,000 combined Kms, no issues. The BRP switch that bolts onto the handlebars didn't make it to October of its first year. Overpriced junk.
