Thinking about a clutch kit or something to get more grunt and force from the Grizz does anyone have any suggestions for making more Power and torque,Plus I want to put bar risers on does anyone know how much extra wire there is to play with.
Thanks for any and all of your help

Single best mod is getting and setting up a clutch kit for the equipment you have and the type of riding you do.

It is possible to safely get an extra two inches out wires and cables. Beyond that it gets alittle messy.

I think I will be headed to the dealer to check out clutch kit prices, because I want some more grunt for climbing hills, bogging thru the messy stuff.

Edson ATV Club poker ralley will be July 5 (always the first Saturday after the July long weekend) I'll be starting a thread on the poker shortly.

It is not possible to set up well for hill climbing and bogging. Bogging requires large open space lug tires which are heavy. Hill climbing requires a light tire with closer lug pattern (depends on soil type and condition). Bogging requires out of the hole torque; hill climbing relies on mid or top end torque. Valve timing (specifically, overlap) are different for each (tuning for bottom end vs mid range).

The best comprimise might be:
  1. Dobeck controller
  2. Quality titanium pipe (header and mid) and tunable can that is relatively long (designed for bottom to mid range).
  3. 28" mud tires (mudzillas) and 27" mud lites for the hills.
  4. A large tire clutch kit that is designed for over 2000' elevation with the OEM weights
  5. Intake valve lash set sightly tighter than spec.
  6. Lose as much weight as possible.
  7. Do not add a snorkle kit.
  8. Tweak exhaust valve lash, try different clutch weights, adjust the can and try playing with the mid pipe length to fine tune.

more info is always better aswell.
like for instance. your tire sizes your running. because if your running like 26" tires then a clutch kit might not do as much as you think. you will feel it but imho its not going to change your bike nearly as much as if you say had 28 +" tires.

there is some posts around about tuning the fule mix on your EFI. i cant remember exactly what it was.*mines carbed forgot about how to do it about the same time i handed my buddy the printed how-too"

pipe will yeild some change in hp. you can tune most pipes for high mid or low end power.

with efi like garry said above a control box like the dobeck could yeild better timeing / mixtures aswell and has decent reviews.

but i guess we should ask what you plan on using your ATV for mostly?

pipe will yeild some change in hp. you can tune most pipes for high mid or low end power.

Pipes can be tuned somewhat within their design limits. No pipe can be tuned to deliver low end to top end power.

Most tuneable 4 strock pipes have discs that can added or remove. Adding discs will decrease back pressure, are louder and increases power. Removing discs increase back pressure and makes it quiter with slightly less power. The shift in RPM range that peak power is made is insignificant.

Changing the distance from the exhuast valve to the leading edge of the muffler will shift the power band up or down. A shorter mid pipe/header pipe combination will increase the RPM range that the engine makes power in.

The length of the muffler itself will help determine if the power band is short and peaky or longer and flatter.

hands down the best mod for buck is high compression piston and a stage 2 raptor cam. The mod will give you the most noticeable hp gain of anything else you do. This is a reliable mod for $1200-$1400.

Clutch kit is nice. You will get some good power going with a pipe and a chip. The hmf has worked good. The chip that you get with the pipe is already mapped ofr that pipe so shes a plug and play and the pipes sound sweet.

Powder yamaha built somewhat of a chip into the new efi grizz. It's accessed via the buttons on the dash and from there you can increase the amount of fuel injected. The instructions on how to access this feature is under the post " free 16% power increase for 2007 grizzly" here in the mud pit a couple pages back. Hopefully this is helpful.
