Tires

Just lookin to see what everyone is runnig for tires. I have ran a few over the years and have not found anything thats good for everything. I currently run 27x10-12 Vampires on my 06 BF750. Im lookin at doing the 6" lift and such later this year(if i dont buy another quad first.). Im just lookin to see what everyone likes for tires. I ride alot of skeg and trails and mud, so im just lookin to see what everyone else likes to run or what you dont like to run. Thanks

I use 26" xtr's I don't like 27's they rob needed power. I ride very hard and fast and I like the handling the xtr's give me. I run about 800 ice studs in them for winter riding.

Ya but im a slow rider, on a quad. So thats another thing, What do you use for ice screws?? I know they sell specific ones, but i know lots of guys that use sheet metal screws, Whats your opinion?

I've tried sheet metal screws and they don't work well. I buy Ice racing studs from my local guy here. There carbide and are 5/8" long and once screwed in they last all year even through the summer. Once the head of the screw gets worn I just put more in. No risk of tire punture as long as the tire your using isn't worn out already. Myself and 10 buddys here in Whitecourt have been using these screws for years with no problems.

Hey buddy, I am runnin 26x12 Mudzillas and they chew like crazy.. (ask Cody ahah) but they are def. not a all around good tire! Anything loose they tend to spin but once you hook up with the lugs your good 2 go.. Any rockcrawling or deep mud/skeg i have found them to be the best! Also I play in the water lots!! and they seem to be awsome! those HUGE lugs work not to bad as a little paddle!!!

i was lookin at the outlaw MST's or at the mudlites in 30". Im liking my vampires fine but i want something a little wide but just as aggressive. Id buy the outlaws, but i read on the brute'f they are killer on parts. Im just gonna keep lookin. Id like the mudzilla's, but i here the same thing from alots of people, good in the mud, sux in the trails. But well see, maybe ill just have o buy a few sets and see.

I just put 26" mudlite xl's on my cat. So far i have only ridden them in the snow (10" loose) and they dig well I guess... can't wait to try them out in the mud and skeg.

My opinion... if it counts for anything... I think it is a waste of time to go to a large diameter tire unless you are in dessparate need of ground clearance. They rob HP, are heavier, harder on suspension parts (wider tires mostly)... so if you have plenty of GC stick with the 26" rubber.

Simple physics?

I had a post on this forum regarding the rubber I just put on my quad but almost no one relpied? Where are all the quad dudes on this site??

I'm with you on that scotty. Alot of guys are going to a "flashy" aftermarket rim but they are mostly all offset and if you ride any existing quad trails you will find that 85% of the quads out there are using stock tires and rims so if there is any kind of rut that you are trying to follow your wider tires will not fit into it and you will be thrown around the trail all day. The offset rim ,in my opinion, is good in the skeg where if you do fall into an existing rut you can always chew a little more on the sides. With my style of riding, ultimate traction is NO GOOD. Its hard on the drive train. I like my tires to be able to spin when I want them to for cleanout and also handling around corners and such. my 2 cents.

I have the 26 inck mudlights on the grizz. I will be switching back to some vampires by spring. Like them much better

I have 27" ITP 589's. I have quite a few miles on them and there still in not too bad of shape. I think my next set will be Outlaws. Just will have to spend extra money on beefier axles if go with them.

Well im not to worried about loosin any power. My brute has lots to go around. I can tell you one thing though. With the way the trails down here are, they are chewed and the bigger the better. I have seen lots of guys with 29.5 laws and 30 mudlights and 28 mud zillas. I personally think if you set a quad up properly(like a sled with clutching) they arnt that hard on parts. Im not a hard rider, but when i need to get the job done id like to have to right equiptment to do the job. Im not to worried about cost, I just would like to see what guys have had good luck with. Im thinkin about going to 28's or stick with my 27's. I had 1000miles on my cat with 27" rubber and no problems and my brute has close to 4000km on it with not major work.(Im on my second belt) And as for alot of quads with stock rims, you should come down to mclean or burnt timber and look. Im sure 3/4 of the quads down here have aftermarket tires and rims.

I'ev got 26 mudlites on my 700 and they seem to be a good all around tire. They get me through most decent holes like good rubber should!!
