How good will my new tires be in the snow?

I just put new skins on the old quad... I have an '02 Cat 500i 4x4. I put 26" Mudlites XL's on, 12" wide on the rear, 10" wide on the front. I use my quad all winter long for play and work around the acreage and farm.

How are these in the snow? What pressure should I run, firmer or softer? Any experience or comments would be much appreciated?

In the winter I always stud my tires with 5/8" ice studs from your local dealer. It won't wreck your tires and you will like the traction. I let them wear right down and the next winter just screw another 600-800 in right beside the worn stud. The stud will not go through the tire and punture as long as you have enough tread to screw into. I have a set of xtr's on my quad now with 3800 kms on then studded. We have studded bighorns,mudbugs,xtrs,bearclaw.

Sumx54, thanks for the tip... sounds like a labour intensive job? 600 - 800 studs?, do you use a cordless to spin them into the lugs? How much $$ aprx. for 600 studs?

Murminator, I've heard of this for mud but have you experienced this in the snow? With Mud Lites? The principle behind the theory is so that the front tires don't dig or trench too much and leave more turf, mud (or snow) for the rears to grab right?
