ATV Tub/Yard Trailer

Good Day all,

looking into a tub trailer for using behind the quad/garden tractor around the yard, as well as to take out to the bush for firewood or for hunting.

I've been watching kijiji but they all seem to be wanting almost new prices for their trailers.

Has anyone picked up one of these X-Moto Tub Trailers from the Wholesale Liquidation place in Edmonton? https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1494203174

Or does anyone have suggestions on other comparable tub trailers?

The previous owners of this place converted the lawn sweep to be a trailer ball and put a ball on the garden tractor so I have no concerns about not being able to use it in the yard with a ball hitch, but want something that's going to last for years to come.

The wheels on the cheap units fail when sitting in the sun. Happened to my neighbors on both there units. Martin farm has some decent John Deere units and there not much more and better built. Getting my self one.

I need one that is useable in the bush Ron, for hauling dead animals out..... not one that's just going to do around the yard......

Apparently if you hold off you could just borrow Ron's....

A couple went through Richie Bros. but at the prices they are getting you could probably make a profit buying new ones and running them through auction. I have an older Deer one, but it's the smaller one with plastic dump tub, and it has served me well for the last 15 years

I've been using the Costco one for at least 5 years and it's held up surprisingly well. For the money it's been worth it. My BIL has that one from the wholesale place and it's fine for very light duty yard work, but that's about it.

Ive had both the JD plastic and the aluminum tandem with float tires. Both worked ok no issues in all honesty I used the plastic way more. The thing IMO you need to be concerned with is sealed bearings on the axles. A lot of the cheaper ones, IE the JD that I have are just greaseable but no bearings. They will not last doing big miles. Around the yard they are fine.

Also with the plastic check to see how the tub is attached to the frame if you side load heavier on one side you want the weight to be distributed and not twist the tub off the frame if that makes sense.

We used to sell them but the cost to build and ship materials to the North was insane.
I highly recommend Paddle plastics in Mayerthore. The tubs are nice and thick. You can get a lid with them too.
Tyler, definitely spend the money on a tandem trailer. Singles are ok on flat ground, but when you’re in the bush, they will sway and tip over when going over a log. Instead of crawling over them.
Also, if you’re thinking of hauling the kids in the tub for a ride, it’s much more smoother than a single place.

I bought one this summer from him. Just the single axle slope back dump. Solid trailer I have heaped it up with spruce firewood. Row in bottom then double wide 2 above edge. No issue.

If you can afford it get the walking beam tandem axle. Less bouncy when pulling. I have seen the single axles tip easy when pulling, but tires could have been inflated to much.

We picked up a dual axle independent suspension, electric dump, electric brakes, for around $400 a few years back... I made a off road hitch for it and man other than feeling a little weight behind you its like its not even their... If your going to be pulling some weight spend the extra if you have to and get a good one especially if your going to be dragging it around out in the bush... With the off road hitch it can flip over and will not take the atv with it...

I bought a used single axle from a guy in grande cache its from paddle plastic. Its been good in the process of building a tandem axle for it.

If you have a welding buddy or weld yourself you could make your own.
I made a few for friends and family. Bought a few pieces, most of the steel and plywood was scrounged...sanded and painted with Tremclad. Some of the wheels came from old lawn tractors [scrap yard].
Cut one edge off 1x1 100 wall tube to make C or U channel for the posts, 3/4 plywood slips into that...all sides are removable. Posts are removable to make a flat bed on a couple of the trailers.
Flat bed was needed to drag a welder and genny out in the bush to build a gate on site, couple others were built for hauling logs for a corduroy road/trail we built on swamp land. JD one was for a buddies wife's lawn tractor, the Honda trailers were for two friends cottages. The axles were built the way they are to follow the ATV ruts.
The one we're working on now will have a walking beam.

Trashy has a small trailer for sale on here that could work for you...add some plywood sides/tailgate and a coupler and you're off.

crap tire has a 4 x 4 ft trailer kit, i got one for yard work , works great.

i also have a 8 x8 flat deck trailer i may part with? hauled the Ranger around on it.
