Hey everyone

My current quad is a 2005 polaris sportsman 700......and I am having elec issues after going through water and I also keep losing my 4x4 capability due to some wiring issues up in front of the handlebars

Debating - do I get the elec issues fixed (currently showing two codes when i run diagnostics - i think it was code 41 and 54). but it wont even crank over.....a little frustrated that it went this way on day 1 of a 4 day trip.

Debating on whether to take the plunge on a new or new-ish machine.

I dont beat my quad hard...im actually somewhat gentle on it - but want something reliable that wont have elec issues every time i go quadding in wet areas.

What would you all recommend for quads? Dont really want to drop 15-20 K on a quad.....I would be looking to finance if I do make a purchase.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Dont need a big 1000 engine or anything liek that......570/700 is just fine.

Thanks

Pull plastic off the steering and up to handle bars. Lots of wires to deal with,

They crack and break. Then touch again. Take some time and check each wire carefully.

It will be a pain. But I bet you have a few cracked wire.

Or broken.

Good luck finding any kind of selection on the sales floors around town. Most dealers are out of stock until September.
Like Arff said, go through it with a fine tooth comb. Wire by wire. Tedious but you will find the issue. I've had to do this more than once. Found other potential probem areas as well.
The 4x4 went on my old Sportsman. It was mechanical, not 'lectrical, but in servicing it, i found the connections to the front end are few, so you wont have to look far.

If you are still looking for new, I would consider a Yamaha grizzly. The grizzly xtr’s are good value (come with 27” zillas and a winch)
