Please see the attached PDF statement from the President of the AOHVA in regards to the current ban.

I believe they are working with the ministries to get this ended as soon as responsibly possible.

I would believe this would be lifted at a reasonable time had it been put in place at a reasonable time.

Yes, I will still chat with my friend in the West to confirm that the idea of zones in our province comes into play...

The darm thing is 720 miles long and 379 miles wide,,, the province might be wet in the north and dry in the south,,,, same could happen the other way...

I'd sure like to know if this is the case so we don't see this blanket thing happen again...

They got voted in so it might be wizer to work with us out-door recreation folks,,, we rattled the last group out of power,,, pretty sure that this group wants our support,,, at least it might be wize to tread lightly in stead of becoming a unpopular group of characters...

Always more wrong then right,,, we'll soon find out...

The larger OHV ban has been lifted and will be put in place as required in municipalities and regions as conditions require them. The fireban remains in effect.
Where are you reading this?

From Nixon
"I'm receiving lots of inquiries on the recent Ag and Forestry OHV ban, so I wanted to provide an update.

There is currently no province-wide OHV ban. I'm happy to report that, after discussion with officials, Ag and Forestry is now recommending a region-specific approach based on overall fire risk within an area.

Like you, I'm glad we are able to access our beautiful backyards. But please remember that Albertans cannot contend with two emergencies at once, particularly when we are not able to fly in firefighters from elsewhere to help battle a possible wildfire.

However, given the vastness of the province and the variation in snowpack across Alberta, Ag and Forestry has reconsidered its approach.

Again, Albertans can still enjoy a ride today, where already permitted.

Please contact Ag and Forestry at af.minister@gov.ab.ca or 780-427-2137 with additional questions."

Be careful on the out door recreation outings even though the Provincial Ban has been removed...

County's and MD's can make their own call on the opening and closing of areas as well...

It's not as if they haven't closed areas before during dry spells,,, with the out break of this Covid thing """could""" make it very challanging to bring in the resources needed to contain things if a forest fire gets underway...

All of know how fast things can get out of control in dry like conditions,,, is the system ready to react with equirment and man power across the Province at this time...

Lets hope that none of find out with everything thats going on...

This is a good opportunity to be extra careful.

Using anything or doing anything that can cause a fire.

In Leduc area we have snow in the fields, but we also has a grass fire yesterday in an area the snow melted in.

Let’s all do our part to have a fantastic fun summer with family and friends.

basically the way I see it. How can you have a fire ban somewhere there is 2ft of snow still?

I get the fire ban. We had a grass fire I went to yesterday and we have lots of snow yet.

Once it greens up bans will be removed per area.

OHV ban is removed. It will be added per area as required.

We have a screening process by AHS to work. Can’t have a lot of staff off or quarantined or no one will be working.
We now wear masks at work near people and at all times in ambulance or Firetruck.

Just my opinion

so proper firepits then, such as in a campground, or back yard.

i would say no, looks like it needs to be enclosed, have a fire arrester and a chimney.
one of those backyard fire place things with the mesh grate around it with top and a chimney might work? fashion a spark arrestor from the small mesh (chicken) wire fencing for chimney may work. approved ?
